It's our turn to go through the writing"reform".   What do you think about the small letter "e" and "w", it seems a bit "un-natural" to me?

Yesterday morning, I started to worry how to help her to prepare the coming first English dictation after just completing the Chinese one.  My lettering is "ma ma de". Perhaps, it's better for her to model the computer character, "with some modification".....???

Before I worked out any method, I invited her to have a go for dictation just for fun (without pressure).  I want to have a better idea on the difficulty she might have.  I did only "words" and simple phrases first.   

Lucky, I found I was over-worry.  Surprisingly, she did it satisfactorily (to my standard) both spelling and penmanship.  In term of penmanship, it is nothing comparable with her flying letters in those worksheets before my order to re-write.   

Then, I went on to sentences.  Ha!  She wanted to be the teacher and asked me to have a go first.   I followed.  Then, she correct my little little imperfectness in the lettering and deducted 3 marks from my works.  

We had a good time yesterday night.  Unfortunately, I had a stomache and I couldn't stand to examine her homework.  I left a message in daddy's phone and delegate this task to him.  ......

The story teachs me a lesson.  Perhaps, one possible way to support is to remove the tension from our kids and ourselves.

By the way, the first step I did is to consolidate all the words and sentences in a A4 paper.  I find it very convenient.  Thanks for your tip.

Glad that you like this method.

You're right.  I feel the same last year.  Also the Captial "M".   But now, as you say, I "re-form" most of my handwriting.  Luckily, I am quite used to write in non-script.  

The true type font, which I can find most closed to the MCS's one is called "rimer Print".  The only different is on the "K" & "k".  You can download from this website :

Also, for Chinese, most fonts we are using is not correct.  Also, some of the strokes we write are incorrect.  This is more important as you need to tell them correctly in the first time.  Otherwise, once they remembered the wrong one, it is quite difficult to correct them.

Gymnastic team also can't accept my daughter,i think you can ask your little priness she can choose the another team,if she like Gymnastic,you can help her join the another centre .i know ymca  also have Gymnastic team .

The quota for Gymnastic team is very little.  Last year, 3 students per class.  So, don't be disappointed as only the best 3 will be selected.

BTW, if your girl is not selected this year, she can't join the team for next year as it is only available for old member.  Therefore, if you want your girl to learn Gym, you will need to send her to other centers.

Are all other ECAs same as the Gym class that only P1 students are accepted? Once selected, they will be the members until graduate? Will the students have chance to join at least one kind of ECA? Many Thanks.

No need to be upset. My girl is a member of the gymnastic team since P.1., it is true as Amywonglo said it is hard to join the team in case if failed in the selection at P.1. However, if you want your girl to take part in outside competitions, it is necessary to join the elite team starting from P.2 which required the kids to practise twice per week. I personally feel it quite time consuming, you and your girl will find insufficient time for work/revision in the week.  I think it is not really a big loss if not able to join the gymnastic team.

Ｍy girl got her result back today. Not too good, but I know she has done her best.  But I checked the letter from the very beginning and it seems like only Quizes will be counted.  Is that true?  Or dictation shows in other column in the report card?   

Well, good luck for tomorrow's English dictation.  I am afraid her penmanship.  She can spell most of the words but the penmanship.....  :-|

In the website I mentioned previously for the Chinese words study, there is a page called : 調整級別識字量.  Enter the grade and the number of words you want to list, then the most common Chinese words will be listed on the screen.

Both Chinese & English dictation will have their own marks displayed on the school report.  

In the test weeks, dictation is not included.  So, the marks are the average of all the dictations they have taken in each term.

Regarding ECA, I totally agreed with Tonks.  Unless the ECA is on Friday, otherwise you will need to arrange pick up after school.  That's why I said that there is no need to join the ballet course if you already arranged one outside.  

Moreover, the fee(s) of the ECA arranged by school is not much cheapter than the outside centers.  If you join those centers, at least you can pick one which both the time & location is convenient to you.

I am not sure if the membership will last until P.6.  I think for Chinese dancing, it is not.  I recalled the notice in last year stated that even existing members need to enter the selection to ensure that they get a seat.  

"Will the students have chance to join at least one kind of ECA?" --  This will depend on what kind of ECA you want your kid to join.  Say, I want my girl to learn flute, but the tutor said her teeth are not ready for learning flute; they asked if I will let her learns violin or Africa drum instead.  So, if you don't mind you can let your girl to learn violin or Africa drum as the ECA in school.  

For this year, the ECA offered on Friday for P.2  students is GYM or 抬拳道.  GYM is for old member only and my girl is not interested in the later one.  So, she will go home early on Friday.  I am not sure what will be offered in the coming months, don't really think there are many choices.  So, I will only look after for P.3 la.  But she already has a few ECA near my home, so I will be quite picky on the ECA at school.

The reading scheme commences on Oct.  Has any student received instruction regarding the e-program?

Am I right to assume that instruction will be given by library teacher in early October and we don't need to enroll the scheme individually?
