Hi, ffma,

My son's reading very good too.  But I don't give him Pinyin to read. It is because he will read the Pinyin only if with the Pinyin. He can read aloud but don't underdstand the mean and know the chinese character.  I think nobody like Chinese writing.  It is because Chinese character is difficult than English.   My son's Chinese writing is over ICS G4 level.    G4 still not composition.  They have worksheet only. So I using the Singapore or China materials teach him try to write the short composistion.

Is there any program for gifted students in ICS? Will ICS do any IQ assessments for their students in senior grades?  I cannot find any information or support from the school website. (In local schools, teachers will select some potential students to do the tests, it's free of charge!)

Sorry for interrupting.  Can some parent tell me what shoes children wear in the elementary section? My daughter needs new shoes and I want to buy a pair that she can wear when terms starts.  Thanks.

A pair of black running shoes would be better!  She can wear it on normal or PE days.

Thanks very much.  If the school requires black shoes, I’ll probably get her a pair of black leather shoes then. For now, her runners still fit.

I teach my son simplfy characters only.  It is beacuse he will be thrown into confusion if study two kinds character.

Hi, ICS parents,

My son is now in P.1 in a local school, but I am starting to think about changing him to an IS. However, I am concerning about if he can be admitted into G2 or G3 with his education background in a local school. He has good grades in English and Maths, but his Chinese is not that good. He is a very creative child, usually he doesn't like to do things in traditional ways. I started to find that his creativity may be suffocated in local gov. sub. school. My husband let him studied in a local school because we hoped that he can get better training in Chinese, but now I found that he has great interest in English, but in order to gain better results in Chinese, he has to spend lots of time on this subject alone.  Since we are US citizens, I plan to send him back to the States to study high school later on.
So, I wonder if going to an IS is really a good choice for my boy...I am also putting this in my prayer...

Dear 安祖媽咪,

As mentioned, your son's English standard is good. You may try to apply G2 for him. Once your son starts to study at ICS, Chinese language will be his second language. So you must accept this fact.  

I think that most of ISs are good study place for those kids with creative mind. But also ICS can provide very good spiritual environment & love to every kid.

I'm a new parent of ICS. As I have not yet received any information about the arrangement of new semester, could you please help me out on the following issues:

I submitted a school bus survey form to ICS when i confirmed the seat; however, up till now, i still haven't received any news about the school bus arrangement. Does your kid take school bus to school? if so, pls share how they arrange the school bus service and the approx. fee.

Does any of your kid take other school bus service instead of the one from school?

Welcome to join this big family. Your kid and you will enjoy from there.  

Even I don't take school bus for my kid, Jason bus service can confirm the route and fee soon I thought. You may wait for a while or phone to Jason directly. Because it is long travelling time in taking school bus, my kid rides on my car every morning.

I have called Jackson Schoolbus few weeks ago.  They said they'll confirm with us later on the detail arrangement as long as we have submitted the school bus survey form.  Besides, does your kid join the summer school? Please note that there will be no service for summer school.

As my kid is still young and needs the escort, he can't ride other school buses.

The fee for my kid (Kowloon) is around $900/month.

Today just received a announcement from ICS, ICS has been officially awarded a six year accreditaion (july 1, 2007 to June 30, 2013) by the International Accreditation commission of ACSI.

Does any parents the ACSI?  What is the stanard of the ACSI? Does any HK IS has this ACSI? Where I can find the information of ACSI?

ACSI stands for Association of Christian Schools International.

Under ACSI's accreditation, there are 3 ISs in HK as shown below.
