Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Dear All

Is your kid now initiative in telling you something that has happened ?

My son slept for less than only 7 - 8 hours at night these few days.  Does this happen to your son as well ?

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

ljsze,
Preston sleeps from ~9:30 to ~6:30am. Does you son sleep too much in the daytime? If he sleeps too much in the afternoon nap, he may sleep less at night.

BTW, Preston changed back to half-day class starting this month. He doesn't like full day and kept on asking me if he could leave school and not have lunch at school. So I let him go back to 1/2 day coz my maid has picked up the work and can handle him now. Also, he knows how to do things by himself, just doesn't like to do it at home. So it's not the point he needs to learn at school, just he will be dependable if he's at home.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Lydia

How many hours in total does your son sleep ?  10 or 11 hrs ?

Actually, he used to sleep about 2 - 3 hours during daytime & can still sleep for 8 - 9 hours at night.  Last night, he slept for about 6 hours only & woke up twice during sleep.  I don't know why.

I think I have to start to get him to his bed earlier.  It usually takes a long time for him to get into sleep.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Lydia and ljsze,

Brian used to nap for around 2 hours in the afternoon and he can sleep for over 8 hours at night.  10 to 11 hours should be enough for a 3-yr old kid.

It doesn't takes long for Brian to get into sleep recently.  In order to use up his energy, I will play with him in my bed.  I will also read him a short story and then let him read a book himself (actually not reading, but just turning the pages and looking at the pictures).  Usually, he will feel tired in 20 minutes.

BTW, do your kids recognize all the chinese characters learnt in school?

Lydia,

What kind of food does LH offer for kids during lunch time?  Does Preston like the food?

ljsze,

Usually, it's me who asks Brian about what happened in school, like which toy car he played, who was naughty in class and whether he was scolded by the teachers.  However, he didn't say it clearly that I had to guess what he meant most of the time.

Doris

My son can recognize all chinese characters taught at school, but sometimes he also mix them up.

Dear All,

I know that kids of taikoktsui school had the playday at tsing yi 運動場, whereas ours will be in school campus.  I don't understand why they have to go from taikoktsui to tsing yi.

My son finally slept a lot last night & I had to wake him up this morning.  Back to normal after a few days of short sleep at night.  Still, he woke up once during sleep for toilet time.  It was rare since he usually wet the diaper during sleep.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

ljsze,

Sports ground is more spacious compared with the playground in school.  However, booking a sports ground at a convenient location is difficult, expecially during the post-exam period.

It's good to know that your son will wake up for toilet time at night.  Brian will not do this.  Yet, he wets his diaper less frequently.

Brian does not wet his diaper every night !?  It's a good sign that he's more mature in controlling his 'output'.  Ha.  My son cannot do so yet.

Do you see the ad of Disneyland having new adventures ?  Let me visit the website to see what's new.

Enjoy the play day this Saturday.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

ljsze,

Brian will wet his diaper at most twice per week.  He can control his muscles better now.

Will your son wake up by himself at night and ask for going to toilet?  Brian never did this.  By the time he woke up at night, his diaper was already wet.

By the way, don't you to the play day this Sat?

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Hi Mothers,
Sorry to interrupt. How do you like 學之園 prenursery at Tsing Yi? I am thinking if I should apply for 學之園 or Tivoli. My younger son is born in Nov and is not 2 years old yet this Sep, so he has to wait till the spring semester 2007 to start his prenursery schooling. Does 學之園 accept 'cut in' student in Spring semester? Any international class? Or Chinese and English teaching but predominated in Chinese?
Please kindly advise. Thank you very much.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Doris,
Nice to hear that Brian doesn't wet his nappy. Preston was doing quite good last month but since he gets sick so frequent recently, so we stop training, maybe later.

Preston got an eye infection these 2 days and it's so difficult to put eyedrop for him.

See ya tomorrow at school!

How do you train Preston from wetting the diaper ?  And, what do you think will be the reason for him getting eye infection.

Our kids are studying at Laguna Verde campus.  However, Tsing Yi campus is the first one of the group.  I do think it's got quite a good reputation.  And, as long as it's got places, it allows kid to start schooling in the middle of the term.  Even if they accept your kid, your kid can only go to school at the age of 2.

Each class has got 1 English-speaking & 1 native speaking teacher.  So, kids have equal opportunity to be exposed to both Chinese & English.  So, if you refer 'international class' to only English-speaking class, then I would say no.  However, in LV campus, we got kids of different races.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Lydia,

What kind of eye infection did Preston have?  Brian has also got some problem with his eyes.  His eyes are a bit red and he blinked his eyes so often.  I tried to put eye drops for him but he refused.  Even if I used a cotton bud to apply some eyedrop on his eye lid, he rubbed it off right away.

The game day this morning was really good.  It's much better than I expected.  Brian was not cooperative at the beginning.  He almost cried when he was in the playground while I was still in the classroom.  Luckily, he became more stable after the morning exercise.  Yet, he asked for leaving all the time.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

My son rarely wakes up at night for toilet.  Maybe twice a week or even less.  So, in the morning, his diaper is wet for 99% of the time.

Brian seems to be better.

The play day was not bad.  It's a good chance to see how he behaves in a group or when he plays game.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

ljsze,

I used to feed Brian with milk at least half an hour before he goes to bed.  By then, he can go to toilet one more time before going to bed.  His bladder will become less full in the morning.  You may try this.

Dear all,

Brian has nose bleeding recently.  I guess it's due to the crispy food I gave him, like French Fries.  He has only had a small amount.  Does anyone have similar experience?  Is there any way to improve this?

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

I also give him milk (only about 5 oz + 2 oz water) at least half an hour before sleep.  He does go to toilet one more time.  However, sometimes he requests for some more water after this to help himself get into sleep.  I will give him some.  Even though he does not drink water, he still wet his diaper.

My son also got nose bleeding for a few times, but not much blood.  I guess it's normal.  Crispy food may be the reason.  How about drinking some more water or eating more fruit & vegetables ?  And, how about 開奶茶 or something that helps 清熱 ?

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

Preston just totally not in the mood for the sports day on Sat. We left after 15 min. He behaved much better last year. However, everyone (the teachers, the headmistress and even the cleaning ladies) told me Preston behaves very well at school. Same problem, every time he's with me, he behaves differently. That's why I hate those parent-child palygroup.

I don't know why Preston got an eye infection. His eyes were swollen and after putting eyedrop, it's better. But then maybe he rubbed his eyes hard at school, the small blood vessels broke and his left eye was very red (quite scary). It's a little bit better now. It's a big fight to put eyedrop for him so we put it after he is asleep.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

ljsze,

Brian will still wet his diaper from time to time at night but it's becoming less frequent.  I didn't give any training on him.  Just reminded him toilet is the place for urine, not the diaper.  I guess it's natural and kids can keep the diaper dry all the time when their muscles are strong enough.

Brian's nose bleeding used to happen in midnight.  Besides those crispy food, I think the low humidity due to air conditioner is also a problem.  I started to switch on the humidifier with air con at night.  Hope it helps.

Lydia,

Brian also didn't behave well at the beginning on the game day, and so were some other kids.  I guess kids found it different that their parents were all there, which was different from normal school day.

BTW, I heard from my Mom that Ms. Lai, the class teacher of PND, will be one of the K1 class teachers in the coming academic year.  She is nice and she cares about the kids much.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

All of a sudden, my son did not wet his diaper these few days.  He woke up in the middle of the night & asked for toilet time.  It was a good sign but then he & I could not sleep through the night.  I do agree that no special training is needed on this.  Things will happen naturally.

Do you know if there's only 1 K1 CE class next year ?  If so, maybe Miss Lai will be the class teacher of our class.  That will be good.  I also like Miss Lai more than the current one.

Re: 2005年學之園PN班

ljsze,

That's good to know that your son didn't wet his diaper for days.  This is a good start.  Just keep on praising him and he will know that he is doing the right thing.  BTW, could he fall asleep again soon after going to the toilet?

Currently, there are three PN classes in am session.  However, I know that quite a number of kids will go to other schools like St. Catherine.  It may turn out that there will be only one CE K1 class next year.
