It’s really not a good news for us.  However, we have to admit Tak Ching is a good school.  She deserves a good campus.  Also, it’s not a good timing for any DSS to apply a school site at this moment.  On top of resources allocation, I think EMB have a lot of political considerations during their selection process.  You know our Honourable Legco member Mr. Cheung XXX shouted loudly (with a distorted month) to stop the new DSS approval.  He even threatened that the Democratic Party would disapprove the funding for those approved DSS projects, such as HKUGA Secondary Section.

If you were Fanny Law, what you would do?

I think Mr. Cheung XXX’s performance is just a political gesture.  Unless the Democratic Party is so silly to sacrifice the millions votes from parents to the thousands votes from Mr. Cheung XXX and his parties, I believe the funding will eventually be passed, and more DSSs will be run in the future.  But, be careful, the Democratic Party is really simple and sometimes naive.  

Based on the notice distributed yesterday, EMB is very positive to the Pegasus secondary school development and the new arrangement.  It is a good signal for us to go ahead.  Of course, this arrangement is not an ideal one.  However, strategically we have to say YES at this moment.  Only after Pegasus get a majority YES, she can put the secondary school issue onto the agenda.  Once the issue is put onto the agenda, together with strong parents’ support, the negotiation process will become easier.

By gut feeling, I am confident the existing S1 students will have another campus to continue their S4 to S6 studies.   So, please put a tick on YES, and let’s come together to think what to do next.

對申辦高中校址失敗當然失望；但教統局一早聲明，原區學校的校舍沒法造改善工程的，可優先考慮。因此德貞獲得，亦順理成章。

現階段，我們最重要的是要先取得高中辦學權，延續現時S1的小朋友在臻美的學業。在小學校舍上課，只是權宜之計，况且還有兩年半的時間。相信我們仍會繼續申請，我個人認為，舊的校舍也應先爭取；例如德貞現時的校舍，又或被殺校的校舍。

因此各家長務請簽名支持學校申辦高中。

臻美身為教改先鋒，路是艱難的，但我們的理念及路向，跟教統局的教改不謀而合。因此直資學校雖然面對傳統填鴨的教育界、只為私利的政客所衝擊，相信我們臻美的家長多加參予，大力支持，家校合作，為「臻美」發展發揮力量，團結及支持「臻美」的教育理念，高中校舍指日可待的。

HELLO 好耐無見！各位好嗎？
能獲教署批新校舍開辦高中，當然是美事。但我個人認為，以現時臻美的情況，在原校開辦中四至中六，可能是「塞翁失馬，焉知非褔。」
臻美並不是大機構，若現時開辦一新校舍，在人力財力上相信頗吃力。基於這原因，我亦不贊成，輕率去申辦一些舊校舍，因為可能比新校舍更千瘡百孔。
臻美現時是千禧校舍，擁有圖書館，美術室，舞蹈室，電腦室…等設施，相比一般中學的，除了實驗室及一些小設施外，並沒很大的缺欠，這些小改動並不太難處理。
至於三十個課室，收十二級學生，可以是小學每級三班，25-30人一班，中學每級兩班30-35人一班。(純是個人的估計)
臻美的教學理念，方法，在香港很新，而從校內的家長分享中得知，學校今年各方面都有很大的進步，亦漸見一點成績，但要被香港普遍家長接受，還有一條很長的路去走，在原校開辦中四至中六，相信更能凝聚校方，老師，家長，小朋友的力量，對我們各方面可能有更好的影響。
不過，我亦有一些顧慮─若小學18班，中學12班，在老師的聘請，編制…上，會有很大的困難嗎？
我相信，臻美若辦得出色，又得到家長的支持，將來一定可申辦一間新高中的。大家努力！努力！

其實一開始讀臻美,我以經擔心將來上中學,是否能夠適應傳統教學方式,好開心臻美有開辦高中的計劃,路程雖然艱難,但我仍然希望有成功的一天!

1) The first in-take was done in September, last year.  But I think they will have one more in-take in May/June.  You can call 26060670 for more info.  

Well, my son entered the school in 2001.  It seems they offered interview opportunities to every applicant at that time.  We had group interivews .... around 6 families + 3 interviewers.  Each child would be asked one or two simple questions and parents were encouraged to express their views on education and their expectation, etc. (Other P.1 parents may be able to give you more updated info.)  I think they tend to take in children whose parents share their 教學理念.


2) They do have school uniforms .... very colorful .... you can have a look from the following link :

They do have books .... but not standard text books .... mostly story books.  The following page is the booklists for all the grades (books for the English subject are in a separate list at bottom).

3) School fee + extra-curricular activities fee = $900 + $300 ( x 10 instalments)

money spent on the books = around $670 this year

雜費, e.g. 校本課程 & excursion/field trips fee = around $1,300 this year

初中部學費 .... I have no idea  


4) Teachers are quite young.  Most of them are in their 20s to 30s and have 1 to 3 years' teaching experience ..... but are very nice .  My son likes them very much.

Most of the English lessons are taught by native speakers.  My son has 9 English sessions per week.  8 of them are taught by native speakers, the remaining English story reading session by a Chinese.

For Putonghua, he has 2 sessions per week.  One of them is taught by a native speaker from Mainland China, seemingly Beijing.


5).  Not much homework.  Mostly one or two per day, or even at weekend.  If it's composition, my son needs more time to finish.  Otherwise 30 minutes to 1 hour per day is very sufficient .... but he is always "mimi momo" .  Sometimes he has project work which is more time-consuming but normally he has 2 to 3 weeks' time to prepare for it.  In average, there are around 8 projects per year.

They used to have two assessments per year for checking children's progress.  But this year they have three.  No scores / places will be indicated in their assessment reports.  They only show grades 1-5, 5 is the highest while 1 the lowest.  The report is very detailed, around 10 pages

7) The administration needs improvement .... it's true, e.g. orders of uniform.... very very late delivery

讓我嘗試以一年級家長的角度去回答你們的問題。

1)        通常在八、九月招生，要密切留意她的網頁http://www.pegasusschool.org。去年全部申請者和父母獲邀參加一個六小時的親子同樂日，從中作出多項評估。內容我不太清楚，但在六個小時裡，我諗真係360度嘜都可以考，無得預備，純粹靠平時。

2)        傳媒的報導不能盡信，通常都有記者和編輯的主觀想象，教育新聞也不例外。不過以中文報章來說，明報已經是最可信的一份。

3)        今年一年班的書費如果全部買齊，上下學期共三千多元。午飯費用每月約三佰多元。今年中一學費每月一千八佰元。

4)        教育是一項良心工作，工作表現跟年資未必成正比。尤其是早年畢業的教師，大多沒有人本教育和開放式教育的訓練，但近年畢業的，反而更善於這些工作。

5)        臻美的功課大都著重思考和創作，功課的數量雖然不多，但可能比抄寫和背書要花更多的時間。同一條問題，你可以三言兩語便收工，也可以花漫長時間去深入思考和創作。完全視乎小朋友的能力、興趣和家長的要求。

今年九月輪到我女兒報小學了，真是有點緊張！有些道聽塗說的資料，希望向各臻美家長了解下。
1. 學校的英語老師及英語活動老師當中，超過十位外籍老師？
2. 現時各級上課以外的時段，星期一，三，五以英語，二，四以普通話溝通？
3. 『臻美的功課大都著重思考和創作，功課的數量雖然不多，但可能比抄寫和背書要花更多的時間。同一條問題，你可以三言兩語便收工，也可以花漫長時間去深入思考和創作。完全視乎小朋友的能力、興趣和家長的要求。』老師的要求又是怎樣？

就臻美申辦高中的課題，我的睇法跟你的非常接近。臻美本身的條件和她的辦學路線跟其他的直資有些不同，現時比較適合辦一間富特色的小校(係小校，唔係小學)，跨區發展高中要冒很大的風險。不過這話題應該由較高年班的家長討論，我都是返回你的問題上。

1)        印象中臻美的確有很多外籍老師，但唔肯定有無十位咁多，當中可能有些唔係全職。就以小兒的班別計，共有三名英文老師，Cambridge English和 Oral English分別由兩位外籍老師任教，English Reading則由華裔老師任教。

2)   「現時各級上課以外的時段，星期一，三，五以英語，二，四以普通話溝通？」
     這是一個目標，就小兒就讀的P.1C班來說，這目標仍未達到，但他們正在努力中。校方製造了語言環境，但在P.1C班尚未

時段全對！其實是鼓勵小朋友多聽多講，但唔講唔會罰，只是鼓勵！

可接受多角式答案，只是合理也接受

小朋友知自己是那班但不知分別。 老師亦會就小朋友的進度入不同班別 咁ABCD班都識了！ GONGON第二學期由補班去普班了！
