Re: YW Channel 1
Dear all,
I am very exciting for last evening I ran into a bookstore by chance and bought the following ENGLISH books:
HKD=RMBx1.1
1. Romeo and Juliet with CD (W. Shakespeare) RMB9.9
2. Hamlet with CD (W. Shakespeare) RMB9.9
3. A Midsummer Night’s Dream with CD (W. Shakespeare) RMB9.9
4. The Phantom of the Opera with CD (Gaston Leroux) RMB19.8
5. The $1000000 Bank Note with CD (Mark Twain) RMB19.8
6. Much Ado about Nothing with CD (W. Shakespeare) RMB19.8
7. The X-Files: Squeeze with CD (Ellen Steiber) RMB19.8
8. The Return of Sherlock Holmes (Conan Doyle) RMB7.9
9. Gulliver’s Travels (Johnathan Swift) RMB6.5
10. A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens) RMB7.9
11. The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas) RMB8.9
12. Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen) RMB9.9
13. Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte) RMB10.5
14. The Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul RMB19
These are all bestselling and well-known books.
The first 3 books are with vocabulary explanation as footnote, Quotable Quotes of the story and comprehension exercises, Discussion, Character Study and Chinese translation at the back.
Number 4 to 7 are even better, they have vocabulary explanation as footnote, story background and listening exercise, comprehension exercise between chapters of the stories, like the Magic Tree House and its Research Guide binded together with excellent paper and printing quality.
Number 8 to 13 are for higher grade students for the text are more complicated with Chinese translation and vocabulary explanation at the opposite page.
Number 14 is purely English. Actually all the above books and exercises can be read without knowing any simplified Chinese words.
I have also bought “A Purpose Driven Life” simplified Chinese version prized at RMB25.
Since I have bought over HKD200, I have got a 10% discount card valid till Jun 30, 2008. You are welcome to use the card to buy the books. There are many many other books. The bookstore is in Mongkok, they have another branch near Times Squares.
And from another bookstore 2 floors below it:
Susuki Violin School vol.1-8 with CD $54
My son is very excited to hear the violin performance of his book! And the stories from other CDs are so long that it keeps my CD player busy. The story CDs are with background sound effect like the broadcasted stories from radio. But I do not know how to copy the CD content into my computer. My CDs bought years ago do not work anymore! |
