Hi Holokmom,

I knew before choosing St. Joseph that my son has to struggle hard to its secondary division.  I had, however, never heard of the school may be changing into 'through train'.  It was for the first time I heard from an official source during the parents' day that the school board is seriously considering changing the school into 'through train'.  It appeared as a 'good news' for me, and led me to have an expectation that my elder son would be benefited from the change

I had forgotten the fact that there won't be sufficient seats in the secondary division to cater all students from the primary division unless the number of primary students is cut down and, accordingly, only those students admitted in the year when the school substantially reduces its number of primary student can be benefited from the changing into 'through train'.

I feel heart-break only because of I did overlook the issue and bear the unexpected but wrongful hope on hearing the principal; this hope vanished completely after Lelu had kindly clarified the case to me

Yes, after the 'day-dream' has gone, it seems what the principal said on the possibility of admitting into Form 2 of the secondary division is the only pacification that I have had at the moment :cry:  


INCIDENTALLY, JUST A WORD ON THE POSSIBILITY OF THE PRIMARY DIVISION changing into full-day school.

I really don't understand why so many parents fond of full-day primary school.  Personally, I prefer half-day school    The reason being that what is so called 'full-day school' in fact is having lessons for an additional hour or so and ends at some 3 p.m. in the afternoon.

I don't consider there is any additional advantage to students if the lessons at school are only prolonged for an hour or so but at the expense of the time that the students would otherwise have for extra learning or activities after school.

There are reasons to favor full day school.  The first one is that some half day schools require pupil to take alternate year to attend a.m. and p.m. classes, say p1 in a.m. class, p2 in p.m. class.......It's troubling to rearrange activities after school every year.  The second one is that the time p.m. school kids go home is the time a lot of people get off their work.  No one wants our kids waste their time in traffic.  The third one doesn't apply to many schools but it's still valid.  By splitting the school into two, a few half day schools offer more places at primary section than their full time secondary section.

我都覺得返下午d時間都幾好用, 仔仔又可以訓晏d... 暫時都唔覺得有咩唔好..
我上個thur個日, 見到九龍塘小學架 校車/保母車, 成6:00 先去到觀塘匯景, 返全日都要成6:00先落車, 就算有課外活動都攰gar ma......[quote]

九龍塘小學架車成6:00 先去到觀塘匯景,一定是因為有課外活動.
你地既然鍾意小朋友返下午校的間,就當然好啦,不過都有好多人鍾意,一來想小朋友早睡早起,二來安排上午既課外活動有d煩,請各位指較一下上午既課外活動安排.

我住九龍區, 我無prefer過安排d咩課外活動俾佢, 只係想佢可以趁上午時候, 可要relax下, 佢既課外活動會係every fri晚開始, 放左學之後去tst學英文, 其他既會分別係sat既上午 & 中午, 同埋sun既黃昏進行, 暫時覺得佢既課外活動已經夠喇!!

係呀, 我都係呀... 佢而家8:15 start 做功課, 溫埋習, 最遲11:00都已經有得訓, 俾起我當初預計既 好好多.....

如果返上午或者全日真係一早要佢去訓喇...

Yes, it is good for our children to learn other things after school of half day method.  And the whole day method is also good for our children to learn at school.  In fact, both of those methods are also good in my eyes, just see which is suitable for our children.  

我仔仔好適應學校既生活, even 半日 or 全日, it is no problem.

Same as my son.  He can adapt to a.m., p.m. or full-day class without difficulty.  In fact, he did attend a.m. and p.m. class at different kinders before.

But for me, I like half-day school as there can be more time left for him to do other work/thing before or after school

Me too, I also like half day class, because I want my son do his own work more.

Thanks. Am I stupid?   Hope this not too late.

Do you remember what the class teacher told about the dictation? From what I knew, the chinese dict and Eng dict should be conducted in turns,i.e. only one dict a week. But....... these two weeks, boys need to have both.

真係比老師吹漲！講好左默書，同個仔準備好，返到學校竟然話唔默！除左1c，有冇其它班係咁樣？重有上星期5，家課表又有錯漏！真激氣！
