To all current DBSPD parents and all those intendng to apply for their kids;
Being responsible parents, you should have a good and clear knowledge about the teaching rationale of the school for which you have applied or will apply for their kids, I doubt why there are many disgruntlements from DBSPD parents now.
I agreed with what Mr. T. Chang (Headmaster) had mentioned in the meeting with parents on last Thursday where he repeatedly emphasized that nowadays parents pamper too much and even spoil their kids. He gave two examples ((1) one parent complained that the discipline was too harsh as her was unhappy with the restriction not to do anything once he heard “freeze”. It sounds ridiculous but it really happens.
(2) one parent complained to have too much homework for his kid and threatened to have the school changed if no improvement. I would like to raise a point that the reason why DBSPD could successfully draw a number of applications every year is due to its brilliant academic and sport performance which is certainly unreachable without putting effort painstakingly. How could you imagine, one might get a good result but put little or even none effort at all. On the other, if school compromised by lowering the teaching standard, your kid would indisputably be happy and at the end get promoted without difficulty, however does the same request for lowering the standard still last in secondary school or even in university ? how could you assure that your kid brought up in such a compromised situation is competent enough to survive in our society? Don’t forget what our kids have to face in their future is a contest with all people of globalization. Please bear in mind “no pain, no gain”, and the basic and fundamental training is paramountly important to the upbringing of DBSPD students. Frankly speaking this phenomenon of using upper teaching materials is quite common and makes no difference amongst those few elite schools in HK.
Last year, there were also few DBSPD parents lodging their complaints and threatened to have kids changed school, nonetheless how many of them were really putting their threats into practice, I am sure that almost all of them still let their kids stay at DBSPD.I much expect that all parents could cherish the opportunity of letting their kids study in DBSPD.
