各位培僑家長:

可否分享一下學校是如何上英文課?

參加完家長會後, 本人對培僑教授中文之信心已是無疑, 但少有英文上課之情況提及, 我贊成校長說語文之重要, 但他如何在課程上配合如國際學校之模式呢?

謝謝您們的分享先, 這對本人為孩子選校極重要, 因要放棄統一派位!

以下是小囡去年的經驗, 希望可以幫到你.

上課時的活動包括有: 唱兒歌, 角色扮演, 玩遊戲, 拼字比賽, 做專題報告, 寫故事, 參觀太空館及加道理農場等, 每週還有兩節英語話劇課(去年只是用話訓練話劇的形式來教Phonics, 老師話大D先真正學話劇). 我個囡英文唔算太叻, 初初番學上堂講唔到, 同老師溝通唔到, 都有少少唔開心. 但係一個月後就冇事, 變成好鍾意英文堂(佢話好好玩). 學期尾時佢已經可以用全英語跟老師溝通, 亦識得寫故事. (不過是用佢自己的英文.....Grammar及串字都不能要求太高....希望今年會有進步啦!)

功課方面, 主要是每天回家後用英文跟家長談天, 然後記在工作紙上. 老師亦常常叫他們閱讀故事書, 每課題都會派D配合主題的英文書番黎睇下. 但係我就覺得閱讀方面都仲係唔係咁夠, 學校話去年未買夠書, 希望今年會好D啦!

Thanks Piggybank.  A friend's girl is studying in an ESF school.  She once showed me the homework of the girl, which was very similar to what you described - writing stories, show and tell.

我有一點分享：
國際學校模式是指教學的模式，並不表示小朋友入去一年半載就會有國際學校小朋友的英語程度。語言學習，環境是很緊要的，除了學校，孩子生活接觸的環境和家人間溝通的語言，都有一定的影響。而且，培僑的小朋友大部份都是來自廣東話為母語的家庭，不像國際學校的小朋友大部份都來自英語為母語的家庭。

各位,

有關portfolio, 直資及私校都收, 有d政府學校第一階段自行分配學位不收,叩門時收.
我有位朋友是主任, 她說看不看是校長意願, 有d只放在紙皮箱叫校工掉. 但作為家長, 估不到校長今年看或不看, 所以我還是做, 現在用電腦做了, 要多少份也沒問題, 我亦當是紀念品, 因大部份是相及作品之scanning.

我已去了一間的interview, 發覺是有用的...但你的孩子必須先以自己表現入了1st round, 因為第2round見校長時, 校長是已看了portfolio才叫我們入去, 並說看完很感動, 感覺到我們的認真及怎教他, 於是便有很多話題, interview由15mins變了長很多的分享, 感覺很好.  

所以時間許可的話, 不妨做一個少文字, 多相的portfolio.

Also, did U hear about the cable hanging over the school will affect the health of students?

Hi all

I am applying PK for my kid this year but I was late for the school briefing on 16/9. When I arrived, already the kids performance for English lesson. Can anyone tell me what did they say before that? Did they talk about the curriculum, extra-curriculum activities of PK and any other things useful?

I also arrived late so it was just at the end of the Principal's talk.  I think they started with the English lesson demonstration but if I recall wrongly this is what they covered on performances:

English lesson
Putonghua lesson
Music lesson - lower form on what they learn at G1 and G8 on violin

Then more discussion individually or small groups, and touring around the school.

以我囡的班為例, 主科老師都有不同的風格, 有一個比較惡, 另兩個比較溫柔, 但學生都喜歡三科的老師, 她說他們常常追著老師, 擁著老師叫媽媽, 老師總是哈哈笑. 我猜這也算是有愛心吧!

學校沒有特別標榜愛心, 但常常提著要培養自尊自信的學生. 暫時我都覺得OK啦.

電纜方面, 當初申請入學時, 校長曾說過, 已經得到電力公司科學數據量度輻射的強度的回覆, 當中有好多專業名詞我都唔記得具體點講. 不過, 總之對學校的影響就係低, 符合國際安全標準之類, 而且會定期量度. 大約好似話學校內的輻射量, 不會大於家用電器在家長的影響. 大約係咁啦!

學校簡會日, 見到學校對面有個建築地盆, 請問現正讀緊PKC的家長, 你的小朋友有否給蚊子咬了很多次.

學校所提供的午餐, 小朋友覺得好嗎? 一個月的伙食費大約要多少錢?

Q1. 有d拉，但做户外活動時噴Off就ok。其實學校在山上樹木多都預左，冬天會好好多。

Oh I also thought there is no swimming pool as the brochure does not say there is.  There is one in the building (indoor ) but it looks like it's for the Uni building.

The interview date will be 28/10 and 29/10.  I can not share with you what to prepare your child for the interview.  However, I think if your son can speak English and understands some Putonghua, he should get a very high score in the  'listening to stories and answer questions' part which the principal mentioned at the seminar.

To all moms and dads,

I think many of you are fed up with Mr/Mrs P's thought about Pui Kiu.  As Mr/Mrs P is so active in surfing on the web and responding to our feedbacks, I guess it is impossible to ask him to 'leave' this forum( I know I don't have the right to do so of course).  And I will be first to sign up not to respond to Mr/Mrs P's philosophy.
