明晚當然會回去！我有少少不祥預感 多數和配合升上書院提高水平或加深課程有關，希望我的揣測不準，只是輕輕鬆鬆過一晚:)

新高中課程改革，你們中一家長有甚麼消息記住通知我們？我常常想像不到將來高中的運作，心情是 :-| :cry: ，非常複雜……

I suddenly think of the secondary school requirement of having Grade 5 instrument.  Is that Piano really doen't count as an instrument?

Is that primary student must acquire their second instrument at Grade 5 before they can confirm for the seat at the college?

Or, they just require the F1 boys to start learning second instrument?  Please advise and I need to plan ahead then.

正如JP話，鋼琴唔計，但學習鋼琴會對學另一種樂器有幫助，例如：睇譜、聽音等。你小朋友是小一還是小二？最近聽兩位家長講起課外活動的老師，你可以考慮。一是中樂的笛子和二胡老師，二是西樂的Saxophone。

今年升中並無要求每個學生樂器要達gr.5，將來5知會否變！
書院只要求每個F1學生要學一種中或西樂(通常係orchestral instruments), piano 5計。
以我大仔為例,佢小學階段只學piano,升上F1,我地要學多樣,我覺得西敲對有piano底既小朋友容易D,米揀lor!但學校只有西敲進階班，要求至少gr.3 level 始收，我仔係beginner，但由於佢piano巳有gr.8,所以破例。
另外,F1會選40個各體育校隊精英，尼40個學生專注體育，5晒學樂器！

334講座，今早就同相問題已問過我班的聯絡組長，她回覆學校會代家長取門卷(上星期五有沒有家長聯絡妳嗎？)，上網及學校是2個不同途徑取門卷的。 (應該不會錯 )

北京親子遊學團 - 不會參加，3月份是旺季，我怕到時老闆不放人。  妳會參加嗎？

Thanks for your info.  My boy is in P1 and I remembered that the the principal mentioned that "it is a requirement to have Grade 5 (other than paino) for F1 admission at the college .  That's the reason why I'm a bit worry.

Other than piano, I haven't enrolled my boy for the second instrument (coz he really doen't have enough time in practicing one more instrument).  And, this is the reason why I'm worry ......:-|

If I have to consider, I would rather choose 'western' coz it would be of use at the church.  Saxophone - I like it and I guess it might also suit those with lots of energy in moving here and there (just like my boy)  But ....... I want my boy to concentrate on piano first rather than learning too much without doing good .

如果囝囝選擇學第二樣樂器，我提議管樂，無論木管或銅管也可以，就算三、四年級開始也不遲，太細好多時唔夠氣吹，而且最好單對單開始，因為學壞嘴形有排執。無論學甚麼，一定要找好的老師，以免事倍功半

昨晚meeting，李校長不停問P6/5 parents : Are you ready to be promoted to S1 via through train?? If you're not ready (i.e. fail or highly likely to fail in any subject of Chin/ Eng/ Maths), you should consider other alternatives!!
林校長補充話小6考試不設補考，亦冇留班，中英數其中一科肥佬就冇得上中一！

Thanks for your info.  The assessment for my boy is "cello" but I'm afraid it's too bulky and heavy for me to carry.

木管或銅管 - Yes, what I'm thinking is that it could be of use at the church in future.  But, still, afraid of 'not enough time'......:-|   (Coz just see the post here regarding the secondary school requirement ....... keep on inflated ...... on the requirement!  I'm really afraid of my boy doesn't have enough time to equip himself to meet the requirement ....... )

一定要找好的老師，以免事倍功半 - Yes, this is what I have to look for carefully before I let my boy to learn from the teacher.

It already scared me much ........... (even though my boy is in P1 )

A boy has to be strong in 'academic', 'music' and 'sports' (I understand it emphasize 'all-rounded' anywhere!).

I can't imigine whether the requirement will be inflated to ........ an unforseeable demand .........    Small boy already slept at 11:00pm and wake up at 6:15am.

A job well done on you .  Long ago, I realised that your son is very strong in piano at school already.  Grade 8 at primary level.

How come your boy would be so .... SO ..... SO ...... strong in 'piano'?  Could you share with me your 'intelligence' in leading him?

Would you mind telling me the starting age for learning piano?  And, the milestone for examination please?:loveliness:

My elder son isn't very strong in piano in fact! He has been learning piano for some 7 years and he just took his gr.8 piano exam last month.

Good teacher is very important! We have wasted some 5 years before we found our existing teacher!!

I must confess that I've spent much much more time in supervising my boys' piano practices throughout these years and only spent very limited time in supervising their homework/revisions!
I don't know whether it's worthwhile or not as you know piano is eventually NOT counted by YWC and we're forced to learn a second instrument! Fortunately, western percussion is not offensive to my boy and he has determined to further pursue diploma in piano after gr.8!
