不經不覺今天是聖心新一年招收新生面試時間，回想自己上年很緊張去報名、跟住學校安排面試、最後就等結果，三個過程最有壓力就是面試，因為不能控制小朋友面試時表現如何, 由小朋友自由發揮。
現在我囡囡已經差不多讀完半個學期，亦很開心，希望各面試的小朋友，在最佳狀態表現自己，可以入讀心目中的學校。

Dear all,

I have done the interview with my daughter on last Saturday.  Very glad that my daughter was willing to answer the teachers' questions.  

In whole, I love this kinder because the teachers are very nice and the whole arrangement was very good and impressive!  

Firstly, we didn't need to wait for a long time.

Secondly, in the meantime of waiting to be interviewed, there was a teacher stayed with us (the applicants) and helped us to get "warm-up".  The teacher in charge in my group was "Miss 詹", she was very very very nice and her act did help my daughter to warm-up before getting interviewed.

Thirdly, after the interview, when my daughter and I came out from the room, Miss 詹 still remembered my daughter's name and say bye-bye to her directly.  To me, it was very amazing because she had read so many names and can still memorize it well.  My daughter was happy and enjoyed the whole process.

Finally, I heard that there were 5XX applicants this year (not sure it is right or not).  That means about 1/5 chance to be accepted.  Not easy at all...

Hope to have some good news to be shared la...

But the leaflet states that the kinder will accept 240 students for K1.

So, if there are only 5XX applicants, the chance will be about 4X%.

And sorry, may i know how did you hear about 5XX applicants?

Actually, I may be wrong.  I heard this from an ah-ma at that day says there were 5XX downstairs waiting to be interviewed.

Roughly estimated at my side, there are 4 rooms for interview, assume each room interview 10 applicants for half an hour.  And say 8 hours for interview at that day (10 applicants x 4 rooms x 2 x 8 hours) = 640 applicants roughly.

I am not sure about it, if anyone knows, please correct me.

My girl was having the interview at room F. So, with your formula, the total no. of applicant will be about 960.

Anybody can correct us, if we are wrong?   

And how do feel about the interview? i just wonder if this is too tough!!

Or my girl is just not up to the standard.

I agree with you that the interview was very well-arranged and it really didnt take us a lot time to wait.  Both my husband  and myself were very impressed!   

640 applicants!????  Getting admitted is indeed not easy! My girl managed to answer all the questions but I have to prompt her to say "thank you" most of the times, so......

I am very bad with calculations, so have no comments on twyam's formula.

Thank you for your information.  Then, I might be wrong on the applicant numbers for this year la... Hope someone knows better than us can correct us la...

Regarding to the interview, there were seperated into 3 parts.  

1st part: To run and pick up (1) a ball and (2) a book from the floor and then according to the shape, place them into a box.  For that part, I "guess" the teacher wants to see the kid's shape recognization ability and see if the kid is still wearing 尿片 while she is bending down to pick up the book and ball.

2nd part: to choose something related to "home furniture" and stick it on the picture provided by the teacher.

3rd part: To choose a picture and tell the teacher what is in the picture.

In whole, my daughter can accomplish the 1st and 3rd part very quickly.  In the 2nd part, she did not choose the right thing to stick on the picture.  But I am glad that the teachers are showing very "encouraging" attitude throughout the whole process and this is what I valued after all.       

By the way, is your interview content the same as mine?

Our experience was not that good. Mainly because of my girl, she was very shy on that day (actually only in that room) .

The 3 parts were the same in our room but the sequence was not the same. Part 1 is a teacher sitting in a chair with 4 papers on the table. She asked my girl to sit down and choose one. The main problem for her was only 1 parent was allowed to get into the room. She chosen daddy but immediately after she get into the room, she pull daddy to get out with her and asked for me. The teacher then said in an unhappy tone to my husband asking whether her mami has come, then asked me to come inside too. When I pull my girl toward the teacher's desk, she was very shy and attached to me and didn't willing to say a word. When the teacher ask her name and show the receipt with my girl's photo on it and asked her who's this girl. My girl didn't answer and even pull the receipt to herself and said '係我架, 係我架' in an unhappy tone. So I feel very frustrated and embrarrassed in this very first part.

Part 2 was to pick up a ball and a book. She still very shy and didn't willing to do it by myself. I didn't know how to help her at that time as the teacher didn't say we can help. Until the teacher said pick them up with mami, I tell my girl to pick up with me. Then, she can do it but not daring to and slowly drop it into the box correctly by herself. When she finshed this part, the teacher gave her a sticker and asked which one she likes. She didn't answer and just attached to me.

Part 3 was much better, the teacher explain what was the scenario and asked my girl to pick up 3 items that should be in the house. My girl pick up one by one very fast and correct. The teacher seemed very satisfied with her performance. (the only part that I am so pleased)

When we're going to leave the room, we passed Part 1's teacher's desk. My girl take a look at her and the teacher said have you done this, then I think she recognised her and said let you try one more time. My girl still didn't response to her, she finally (after some more questions) say a few words to answer her but in a very low voice which I didn't think the teached can hear.

So my husband and I didn't think we can be admitted. And after discussion with my husband, we both think the arrangement of SKH seemed much better in terms of children-friendly.

Another question, did all mums apply for  pm or am class?  

I chose pm class as we are quite far from Robinson Road.  Dont want my girl to wake up 7am in the morning during winter. :

It was glad to hear that your girl performed very well on that day! And hope you'll have the good news in Feb.

May I know what time you had your interview and which room. Because we didn't have that arrangement. All of the children  and parents just sit or stand outside the room and wait. The teacher at the room door only responsible for checking the name and tell the next one to get into the room. She didn't have much smile on her face actually.

So it's quite amazing when I read your message.
