而家都有o的想
覺得生仔係一件好重要o既事........
或者再過多一兩年........
所以而家更要plan將來的路要怎麼走.......
仲有而家可以搵到and save到的多少都十分之重要

Can you share how much can you earn per month (just a rough idea) as I'm planning to be a tutor in the coming year as well but worry about the income.

Also, are you working in the learning center or as a private tutor for your student?  How did you get your student?  By referral or online tutorial centre?

依家搵左一個2年前 0係 佢學校教書老師幫他補習。

我睇完你地我心聲後,
原來我誤會左「你地」，
我仲以為唔教學校係為左收入添，

Agree! Work at school can drive people crazy! Most of it is admin. work, it seems that teaching, marking, preparing are minor. Even though teaching F.5 and F.7, still not much time to prepare for the lessons.
Am I a teacher?
If they are the same, it is better to be a private time - kill you less time, less pressure!

好同意其他老師所講, 以前讀書時都有補習, 不但好有教學樂趣, 家長都十分尊重我. 到我出來教書話唔補時, 個家長差不多個個星期call我叫我再補.

唔係話自己好巴閉, 而係我好努力咁幫個小朋友所得來的那份受尊重. 學校內的家長則好似奉旨一樣, 仲要係自己的小朋友面前話老師不是, 咁樣叫我地點教呢? 日日做文件開會多過備課, 見到一些好用心的同事一個個走, 自己都唔係太想留係教育界.

即使轉行去補習也不是壞事, 至少家長會見到我們用心的一面.

非常同意你的說法
教了近十年書, 得到的尊重越來越少
精神心力是花了, 但卻見不了回報 (不是指金錢)
補了十多年習, 補習真的可以見到小朋友進步, 而家長亦會欣賞
小朋友相對地亦覺得補習老師幫到他 (學校老師反而像在害他)
相反在學校, 家長投訴老師的不是越來越多
有時甚至連小朋友本身的行為性格問題
也可以入埋班主任數, 然後當眾被家長罵一餐
說我們沒有教好他的孩子
我們可以怎教??
幸好, 我現在倒數, 還有約十個星期, 我就會脫離這種生活
做一個令自己開心, 令小朋友開心些, 得益些的補習老師

你說得沒錯, 我們這些做老師的人在家長心目中係針對佢地子女的人, 其實我地日日7:00就返學工作至晚上, 那有時間去針對學生呢? 那個老師不希望自己的學生做個好人讀好書, 但父母從不合作. 我們不可罰抄, 不可罰企, 不可以駡,但學生可以遲到, 可以欠交, 可以放大假的前前後後不返學去旅行, 父母仲要教他們講大話, 明明通知了他們的子女要留校溫書, 連通告都簽好, 一個轉頭打電話來學校大駡, 話唔見了個仔, 還要投訴老師. 知道自己攪錯又唔道歉.

仍記得前年有個家長拿掃把打副校長, 後來才知係自己的仔講大話, 呢個咩世界!!!!!!

是呀!! 我教埋今個學期就不教學校了...
因為剛生了第二個小朋友, 想照顧兩個小朋友
大仔將於九月讀幼稚園, 細仔才四個月大
如果我一日還在教學校, 我是沒有機會帶大仔返學, 參與他的學校活動, 旅行等....
我不想"識教別人的孩子, 而自己的孩子卻沒有機會教"
所以我會轉做全職媽媽, 然後part time 替小朋友補習
或教一些part time 夜校等

Wow! You are so great.You can quit the job because of your kids! Jealous of you!
I got a three-year-old daughter. Yes, agree! I don't have much time with her especially just the two years - studing Master in the evening twice or three times a week. Very busy and drove me crazy!
I am thinking that after work - not to bring anything back home. But I think I cannot quit the job! :cry:

It's rather disheartening to see a few teachers expressing their grievances, It seems that parents today pay more respect to private tutors than school teachers.  I can't agree on this.  And I don't think I'm alone.

True might it be that being a private tutor earns more job satisfaction - by seeing 'results' i.e. academic improvement of the student.  This is understandable as private tuition usually involves a smaller group of students, or even one-on-one; and definitely less administration work.  Moreover, it's primarily focused on academics - that's the reason why a private tutor is called in.  On the other hand, we have higher regard - and expectation - for school teachers as they are to 'educate' the students, guiding them to develop fully in various aspects.

While one quits a job [whether it's a teaching job or admin or marketing job] to allow oneself more time for their kids, that's another issue.  I do admire such a decision.

But I think it's a bit prejudiced to say that being a private tutor is far better than being a school teacher.  There are certainly pros and cons for these two different jobs.

P.S. My kid loves his teachers and I share his respect to the teachers.  And I am not going to hire for him any private tutor.
