我見好多媽咪都好擔心個仔/女入邊間小學, 如果唔係都唔會報KV, 講真邊個家長唔想自己小朋友入好既學校, 但我個人意見係等佢開左學睇下佢讀得開唔開心先算, 我自己就打算如果佢讀得唔開心, 太大壓力, 跟唔上既話會幫佢轉校, 我唔想迫佢, 因為我覺得咁樣好自私......

seem that you prepared your son very good with platform of KV... any ECA / extra course to your son?
can you detail how kv access students' academic performance?

It is good advises to pre-KV parents...

yes, can u please tell us abit more about kv, how they teach the kids, and what u liked and disliked about the school....?  it would be most helpful!!

the strenght of kv is its traditional way of teaching whcih could help children lay a foundation in read and write. they also demand children to be obedient and disciplined. Therefore kv children are well equiped to face the P1 interview of many school. I found most of kv children quite enjoy the school life and learning experience esp. the freindship in school. I don't find any sign of pressure from their face when i take my son to school.

but its weakness is also it traditional way of teaching that limit the creativity of student. (too emphasizing on right or wrong). Another weakness is spoken english (in comparing with SC having NET),.

My son's ECA profile is phonic, drama, speech, swimming, drawing, skipping, hong kong children choir and GO.

Basically KV assess children by evaluation on 4 subjects regularly. However my experience you have to do everything well from time to time e.g. daily handwriting, biweekly drawing even though something not counted to report. In fact, every thing count if you want to be the first place.

i still want to ask u, from what i have heard about kv, parents don't really know what goes on at school, is that true? how much do u know??   r the teachers willing to talk to u when u want to ask them stuff?? and there r very little non-academic activities, is that true? for all of the eca, u have planned for ur son outside of school, right?

i m purely asking for the sake that i m still deep into considering which school for my son, and these questions r still in my mind, it is whether i (myself) can accept their system or not, i m sure my son can adapt very quickly....

thanks for 肥爸's info... and I agree what "elainec" mentioned is KV = a system or method of training... some parents will avoid it much in such young age of children and some parents accept this as local primary school are using traditional way still...

I think we can balance children school life of KV by taking them to some ECAs with creative training and it is also easy to have expourse with NET outside...

what I concern is any children have been forced to leave KV in K2/ K3 cos of bad academic results... it will be very headache to parents with such moment...

Dear elainc and andykwan,
Kv only arrange activities such as drama, games day, birthday party within the campus only (no outing, no visit). Parents are not involved in these activities. All other developing ECAs have to be arranged by yourselves.

Teachers are willing to talk to you if you have time to do so. I don't feel they try to hide anything. However I do find they are quite busy with the children when i take my son to school. Usually they encourage parent talking to them on Sat.

I have never heard of any one being asked to leave because of poor academic performance. However I know someone get poor result (30 marks in exam) is still here and some parent refuse to cooperate to imprve the handwriting of their child.

I face similar dicision 3 years ago. Think about :
What you want your child to be?
What is the target primary school?
What is the character of your child?
These are crucual consideration

我而家毎日帶囡囡坐村巴由沙田出九龍塘返nursery, 落車處正是KV正門, 就我所見KV的學生真係好乖, 好整潔, 佢地比我感覺係淡定型小朋友, 而KV門口接待既老師很斯文, 所以老師同學生的感覺很統一

有時候我們搭唔到村巴會坐巴士出九龍塘, 通常在中途站會遇到一個KV既學生上車, 我見他媽媽在車上都會爭取時間同佢温習英文串字和+/-數(三個位的), 深奥程度都幾令我咋舌, 難怪出面私小都喜歡收KV既學生啦, 起碼質素有保証!!

其實我覺得小朋友在那一間幼稚園都可以讀得開心, 只要老師係有耐性, 有愛心, 這是大前提!!  如果你認為你的小朋友有能力應付比較深奥既課程内容, KV真實是一個不錯的選擇; KV令我相信小朋友在涵接上小一有絶對優勢, 不過無論最後決定是那一間, 你都要相信"條條大路通羅馬"

Dear elainc,
What kind of children suitable for Kv is dependent on your expectation from a kinder. Don't expect a kinder do everything for you. On the other hand, try to be on top of your child's development.

From children perspective,
All normal children could benefit from a systematic training. I find aome active children are condused with too much limitation in school.

From teacher perspsective,
They like children who are smart and obiendent, attentive, hard working and active learning. Model students will be built up more by given more responsibility and honour.

From parent perspective,
Your availability to support the child is another factore. Your support can contribute a lot in his school life in Kv. I know three First Place students (from different classes) are supported with full time mom and with the above characters.

Hope it can help to finalize your decision.
