I suggest you to ask your child to read more books, when he/she can recognise the words, it would be easier for him/her to write the words.  Or you can try to make more fun, for example, some Chinese words are from pitcures, such as 日and月, some from sound such as 江 and 河....Don't take it too serious when practising.

Phonics can help the child in pronounciation and dictation, it is worthwhile to study Phonics course.

The schools you mentioned are similar.  Every school wants to push their student so as to attain a better result in secondary school allocation.  Just prepare yourself.

我個仔由細開始我每晚訓前都會講故事比佢聽,直到而家快6歲都係咁,我以為可以幫佢將來識多d字,但原來唔係,因為開錯頭.
我建議一開始應讀故事,揀d字少而大隻的書,圖書館好多,然後一個一個字咁讀,因小朋友鍾意重復聽故事,所以會認得d字,而且對將來寫作文法及講普通話有好大幫助.
如果係講故事, 好似我而家咁,一來太口語化,而且只管聽而唔睇. 但而家無法改變,因我讀故事佢覺得唔好聽,prefer唔聽.
我細B而家3個月大,我將來一定讀故事的方法.
大家有無意見or同感?

Yes, you need to read with the kid, not just to tell him the story and he listens.  To start, you can ask the kid to look at the story book and you read words by words and then you can try to ask him to participate- you read one page and then he reads a paragraph, when he comes across any difficulties in reading the words, you help him and teach him the pronounciation, don't give him too much pressure.  Step by step, you can ask him to participate in reading more.  Be patient.  I found that it is useful to my kids.  You know, my son eventually asked me to sleep and he read the stories to me until I fell asleep.

看了之前的交流,我個仔都係默書好差,英文更無方法,雖然他在K3已開始學公文英,但對佢現在小一的沒幫助,學校已把他交去下學期做測試,不知是否有問題,總之現在他無法記住D生字,默書溫了第日又倒空了,好難教!

你知嗎? 月近讀小一的日子我月擔心, 見佢咁心散同無記性,有時不自覺地狂bing佢,但bing完後自己very sad,知道唔應該但好難做到,EQ好低呀! Poor me!

Dear SPJB,

They are 11 and 8 now.

I am also not a patient mum.  Said is easier than done.  I have studied the psychology of children before, I know the theory but unable to implement because of my poor EQ.  Sometimes, my husband said I should be more understandable to the children, but in fact I was not.  It is really difficult to control under certain circumstances.  Agree?  Let's try to better together.
