Depend on where are you live ,no need to waste  money&time for transport.

I do think both are good schools for boys.

My husband went interview with my boy to the 2 schools and he preferred RC.
He felt that RC's campus (current one) is better in terms of space.  
All the teachers, students and staff he met at RC are very nice and polite.

Academic wise, I believe RC is stronger at the moment coz I think tranditional schools train students better to tackle the current exam like HKCEE.  
While St Paul is more "all rounded", focus not only academic but also on other areas eg. sports. This is another reason why we choose St Paul

Nevertheless, our kids will be having an exam with completely different approach after 12 year. So, perhaps, (just perhaps) St Paul will rank higher in exam at that time.

Besides, I have asked 2 parents who have boys at RC, both of them said they would have put their kids at St Paul if they had a choice.

Afterall, these are subjective views only. Different parents will have different weighting on schools to best fit their kids.

Two of the boy's classmates, who were originally in the first batch waiting list, got the call and have already registered.  One of them got the call on the Saturday afternoon, i.e., the day we registered, and the other on the next Monday morning.  Both fathers are old boys of St Paul's College.

It seems that old boy has no advantage over the application.  It really depends on the child's interview performance, right

Sorry, I don't know.  But the principal said in the briefing session that for the those in the waiting list, preference will be given to kids of old boys.

Thank you for your information. In fact my boy was already accepted by RC. I am just wondering if SP Boys will accept him or not because he is also in the first batch waiting list. However I've heard my friend said (her boy is in P4 now). The syllabus of SP boys is very easy and there is no outstanding record in recent years. It seems RC stronger than it (can be shown from the web information). I don't know it is true or not but she determined to go to other secondary school and not stay SP boys later. Anyway, I think SPB and RC are good schools. Students are good. Either one would be OK. What do you think?

vote RC, RC RC for english speaking in class/school's song. Putonghua to teach chinese at P1.
-To provide a lot of extra-activities for boys
-To have a new campus in Causeway Bay
-Catholic Church's Background
-Teachers are nice and experienced
-English standard is higher in all Catholic School

RC need to study a lot of English Poams, Rythms, Writing , Dictation and it is a well foundation to train your kid's more indepandent.   If your kids love to  do many exe by himself, you must spend more time for the revision every week.  The location is more easy to catch up for me.

SPC is more active and creative, kids will find that is a happy school.  If you dont push your kids so much. I think it is suitable for them.

You may consider your kids's charactors and choice the right school for them.

Both of them claimed that workload for homework/exam (to parents) is heavy, and teaching method is traditional in compare with St Paul boys.

I think RC is suitable for my boy so I withdrew the waiting already. I want my boy go to a Catholic school since it will train up the child more 認真和謹慎。而且香港教區揀了三間小學做資優教育：聖方济各、高主教、九龍聖若瑟，I think it will have more chance for my boy. Do you have the same problem? RC is a good school. I'm happy about the choice.

NichoB, is your son studying in RC now?  Mine is currently a P.5 student in RC. Although RC is a traditional school, I don't think the teachers push the students hardly. My son normally finishes his homework within 2 hours. I'm not sure if their overall academic stardard is really higher than SPB. However, among some not "top-top" primary schools and famous官校, I could say RC's English standard is higher than average. Also, RC has Eng Maths that will definitely make my son easily adopt his new page in secondary school. As I know, there is just a few primary schools teach Eng Maths. My son's private tutor (only teach him writing skill) even told me that my son's English standard can really compare with a F.2 student. Hehe, I never think my son can speak or write good English.  Actually, it is all talking about comparison. It you put RC compares with DBS, RC's English level may consider as "low". Nevertherless, I'm happy with RC coz my son studies happily there and as I could see most of his classmates are polite and hardworking. I don't think to enter a top-top primary or secondary school is the top priority for a kid.  If he likes reading and hardworking, he can enter a good university in HK or overseas no matter he is from RC, DBS, SPB........ Therefore, don't too focus on the 名氣 of school. I even didn't try SPB when selecting schools for my son for P.1. It was only because the matter of location. I don't want my son to spend too much travelling time from/to school every day.

Take it easy - in fact, many schools in HK are very good!
