一件頭連身就比較暖d, 但就姐手姐腳d; 較適合outdoor 泳池;

如 indoor 呢 就不用一件頭, 用中就 就ok喇, 因小朋友是在水不停咁yuk, 應該唔會好凍, 凍都係上水落水果下;

如小朋友未識游, 我覺得就唔好冬天學喇, 除非起indoor & d 水keep 得好暖, 否則好容易凍親, 又何苦呢?

Dear parents

My child has been learning swimming for over one and half year in two different centers and suppose I would like him to continue learn swimming this winter as one of his learning centers got warm water.  I think I have no problem with that.

However, the problem is even he has learnt for over 1.5 years, he could only put his head inside the water, making bubbles, floating with the aid and no more.  He still could not dare to take away his aid and float by himself.  He cries everytime when he is required to do so.

My hubby would like to stop for the winter and try again next year, but I would like to keep on trying as even he starts next year again, the problem still happens again and he has to start again from the very beginning as the other school may only treat him as beginner as well .  By doing so, it would take again 2 months or even more to reach the present level again.  Then at that time, it will be July to August .  (suppose we start again in May next year).

If you were me, what you would think?  Should I stop or should go ahead? Please kindly give me some of your advice. Thanks.

How old is your child?  His progress is a bit slow.  Do you discuss with his/her coach to get some professional advice?  My son is 4-year old.  He learnt swimming in mid-Aug this year and can do all as you mentioned above.  Additionally, he can swim now.

Do you sit besides the pool while he's attending swimming class?  If yes, he will cries wheneverhe is unwilling to put off all the aids since he knows you are his last resort.

At the very beginning, the coach for my son once requested me to leave the poolside  no matter how he cried and unwilling to enter the pool.

My opinion is that you should let him go ahead and leave the poolside, don't watch him again.  When he has no helping hand, he has no alternatiive but follow the coach's instruction.  

Try and see if it's effective.

我覺得教小朋友係唔可以逼囉, 這樣只會嚇怕佢地, 你愈逼佢地就愈反; 會有反(校)果; 有時停一段時間都好嫁.

我小朋友3歲時學游水, 頭2堂冇問題, 第3堂唔肯去; 停左1.5-2年, 學左2個group班, 因覺得慢, 之後改單對單, 第3堂已可以學憧全自由式游25m連 breathing.

有時d野又要因人而義~ 用多d唔同方法, 同佢接觸多d水囉, 你知啦, 而家d小朋友唔迫得嘛~

Your son is so great and a lot of the cases of my friends also got the similar progress mentioned by you.  They could really get improvement like your child even started later than my child or started together with my child.

Yes, I do stay along in the swimming pool with him.  However, he is not asking for my help even he cries.  He is the one who could not accept any failure and disappointment.  When he could not do anything which is required, he would just complain himself and disappointed. At the same time, he is too timid to take the risk and new challenge. And, he does not get great sense in sports as well (I think).

But anyway, I may try to do so and to see if any improvement.

Thanks for your sharing.
As a matter of fact, we have tried the group lessons as well as the 1 to 2 lessons.  But all the other companions and friends do got promoted to another classes as well, therefore, only he is singled out.
Thanks anyway, I know somehow he could not pushed.

妳小朋友有冇試過 ymca?  我小朋友在 ymt 那間, 我見佢地分班好仔細, 所以若根據妳小朋友進度, 可以試下報初二班, 不過我見平時游泳季節通常會去到 1:8, 依家進入冬季可能會少一些, 若已經不怕閉氣入水的話, 應該再上不會太難的, 那裡教練幾有愛心, 妳可以試試, 不要灰心呢         !

Thanks for your information. I have never tried that one.  How is the temperature and water level of that swimming pool?  How about the indoor temperature of the changing room? Do I have to apply for the memberhsip before entering the swimming club?  For TST YMCA, we have to pay , I think around 1000 per head per year for the admission of the club. I think it is quite expensive.  By the way, how much is the price per lesson  for the swimming class?

For YMT YMCA (my girl swims over there for 2.5 yrs already)

Membership fee: only $20 ~ 30/year
Swimming class tuition fee: $100/hr or $120/hr for special heat time (e.g. Sat, Sunday)

Temperature:
swimming pool in 4/F: now, ~ 27 to 28C indoor,
Water: ~ 30C (but my girl says feeling cold if not swimming in the winter gar)
Chaning room in 4/F: no warm air conditioning, but OK wow if all kids are using warm water to bath, the room is warm too.....of course need to change clothes quick quick lar.
There are changing rooms in 2/F & 3/F, the way to there once the kids leave the water is  OK as long as walk quickly to the changing room & wrap the body with big towel

若地點合適, YMT YMCA好好架. 我三個小朋友由四歲起在呢do游了. 已有8-9年了.  到現在都總係do游呀
當然係游泳隊了. 每週8-10小時,  從未間斷過.  
游水除了講強身外, 總有好多野學架. 可訓練小朋友毅力, 拼駁, 力爭上游的精神. 成功感. 減少打機的時間及上中學放學後周街去的機會. 安全............

囡囡今期若能升班的話, 便要升到習泳少年班, 有諗過考泳隊, 但又怕囡囡在抽時間上有困難, 可否請教一下, 若初入泳隊, 是否最少要游 2-3 日?  入了泳隊後, 是否不用再另參加泳班?  其實我都看過泳隊訓練時間, 初入隊好像都集中在 Sun 上午操水, 但因要上教會不能兼顧, 請問可否給我些意見 (不知我自己有沒有理解錯         ?), thank you very much!

妳可實地去看看, 平日泳班家長都可以近距離看到        !  好像 yuetmama 咁講, 游池在 building 4/F, 我囡囡都用 4/F 的更衣室, 但家長唔入得, 只可學員自己進出, 3/F 就可以家長一齊, 幫小朋友沖身, 但就雖要行遠一些呢!  初班泳線會加台, 所以小朋友一定企得到, 冇問題的.

除 ymt 外, 其實荃灣也有 (囡囡既表兄妹都在 tw ymca 游的), 同一間機構, 一樣都唔錯嫁        .

妳囡囡好似小二, 佢仲叻啦       !  阿女依家已經好多活動, 其實都未必入到泳隊, 可能到時都要 shift 去習泳少年, 叫做 keep 住有得游啦        .

Piano on Friday evening   Piano teacher off on Sunday gar otherwise sure I choose Sunday lar.  

妳囡囡好似小二, 佢仲叻啦 >> no gar, she repeated in her Elementary II 3 times gar as she met a very strict coach who     kids gar     The kids with her in the Elementary 1 before, 1 finished the swimming course & perhaps joined 習泳少年 & another one same as your girl but only P3.

可能到時都要 shift 去習泳少年, 叫做 keep 住有得游啦>> agreed.    

阿女依家已經好多活動>> really admire how you & your girl can manage so many activities but all done well, you really need to teach me.

入不入泳隊, 好看小朋友個人情況, 她/他對游水的喜愛程度, 個人條件. 再配合其其它活動分配時間. 若只想keep住游, 不想化太多時間, 可選習泳少年班.若初入泳隊, 好似只游1-2日, 每次1小時.   入了泳隊後, 可不用再另參加泳班. 希望幫到你.
