It seems that you are very eager to get a place at Marymount.

Aside from her fame, can I ask what is so attractive about this school? What is her banding? I have looked at Marymount's website, her HKCEE and HKALE results aren't as outstanding as expected at all!

I also find that their results are quite disappointing!  Only 4 out of 69 students got distinction in Use of English!

The minimum requirement of Form 6 admission is 14 points, the standard is more even among difference school, so it is difficult to get an outstanding result.

I think about 5% of students got “A” in English Usage, 4 out of 69 students got distinction is acceptable.

Sacred Heart A level result

It seems that SH's overall A-level result is a bit better than Marymount in 2005, but Marymount's HKCEE result is better than SH.

I would like to venture a guess as to why this happens.
Some , may even be many,  of the best MSS students never sit for the HKCE / HKALE .
They get transferred to international schools or simply go overseas.
I know of the footpath of one such student :

MSS ==> HKIS ==> MIT.

Maybe so.  But this trend of going overseas is also common in other famous schools!?  
I also know a girl transferred from MSS to an international school as she plans to study overseas.  But just wonder why one has to go like
MSS ==> HKIS ==> MIT
but not
MSS ==> MIT

Yes, many HK students have successfully applied elite US colleges using their HK examination results. But I think you'll  agree that the HKCE & HKALE do not exactly fit US college admission requirements. A lot of time and effort  will be wasted if one pursue this route , ie, getting and using a good HKCE result to apply for an Ivy . The time and effort will be better spent elsewhere like developing one's sportmanship or leadership skills etc . An international school education midway between a traditional school and an US college seems like a logical stepping stone to many parents.

As to your first question, could it be that there exist different trends or traditions among different elite  schools ? Some secondary schools have a strong tradition of sending students to local universities, medic and law even, and they have regular 10A students to boast. Others have students setting their sights on overseas universities. Most schools fall midway in between.
It's a matter of degree, pun intended.
