For Cambridge, YES, kids can only take the exam in HK when they reach age 6.

For Trinity, NO, as my son is also 4.5 years old and can successfully take this exam last month.

I've no idea on LCM.

If kids can take the Cambridge exam when they reach 6, is that mean that they can have Starters at 5+?  I'm still thinking which English course is most suitable.  I want a course with high recognistion while the child can continue to study.

Long ago I asked British Council for eligibility of taking Cambridge exam.

They said the kids have to be at P1 and reached age 6 if they want to take part in Carmbridge exam.

So I'm afraid age 5+ cannot reach their requirement.

But you may consider to join training course at 5+.

I've also planned to let my son to take Cambridge exam when he goes to primary school. This time I will not arrange training course for him but just buy some past papers and let him practise the exam format at home.

Could you pls tell me how do you feel about the Trinity Speech & Drama from your son's experience?  What changes can you find from your son's English?  Does it have any advantage in applying primary schools?  

How long does it take to finish Cambridge's Starters?

Re LTEfC, besides the sample paper provided by Pearson's website, no other recommendations la.

btw, as suggested by the tutor, my son will attend preparation course for Springboard exam wef July.

I may consider to take both Firstword and Springboard exam in one time if the exam time does not clash.

Unlike LCM, I found the Trinity graded exam is not easy to get good results as the marking is quite tight by the examiner.

In the May exam, I know only 1 student (K3) from Nice/Wise Studio can get "pass with disctinction"(i.e. get 85 marks or above).

Owing to this reason, the recognition of this exam is comparatively higher. I think more or less some credit will be given by primary schools to children holding a Trinity graded exam certificate.

During the exam, the child has to enter a room by his own, face to face with the examiner, reciting an eng poem from memory (40%) and telling him an eng story from memory (40%) followed by a free talk about the chosen pieces (20%).

As my son is v active and not afraid of talking to strangers (actually he likes chatting with foreigners v much), so he has no problem with it.

Recommend you to buy some past papers from Chin bookstore for preparation. Price just around $3X~$4X, with a questoin book, an answer book and a cassette tape for listening test.

If your kids are relatively weak in Eng, you may give them wider exposure on eng environment to strengthen their skills e.g. watching Eng cartoons, reading eng story books, listening to eng story CDs, learning phonics, attending eng classess conducted by NET,.... and more etc. Actually there're a lot of things that you can do to improve their eng ability.

My son is a SUPER fan of Thomas. He has watched a lot Thomas video and he can always imitate the tone and the speech of the narrator (Ringo Starr and Alec Baldwin). Though watching too much TV is harmful, at least he can learn thru watching...

Tiktikma has already voiced out the name of the centre. Actually the preparation class has not yet started.

I'm a HK people and have no idea on Kln centre....
