Simply speaking, there are 2 rounds of allocation for the whole gov't aided school system.
First round (usually result released in late Nov): that's the point system, such as whether your siblings are old girls, first child in the family, same religion of the school, etc.
If you don't get in the desired school in the first round, then go into the 2nd round (fill the form in Jan and result released in Jun):
that is you may need to live in the same district as your desired school. That's the only thing it counts in the 2nd round of allocation.
However, in the 2nd round, there are still 2 sections in the form of school selection.
The 1st section (甲部) allows you to choose schools that 'DO NOT ' share the same district with your home address. i.e. If you live in the Chai Wan, you can still pick 'Marymount' in your 1st section
(甲部) of the school selection form.
Please be warned the chance of getting in the desired school in 甲部 is really really SLIM. Because there will only be a few places share with the WHOLE HONG KONG K3 students.
In the 2nd section (乙部), you MUST choose the schools in the same district of your home address. Such as if you live in Wan Chai, then you can pick Marymount / St. Paul's Catholic in 乙部.
Hope i did make it clear enough.
