耀中兩歲班

其實耀中的定位與一般國際學校不同,就小學來說,是有約30%中文學(主要是普通話),這也是她的賣點之一.當然有人會不喜歡她不是100%英語教學;但也有人想子女學習中英雙語.耀中講明提供雙語教學. Preschool 課程來說,國際全日班尚且佔50%;主流班英語佔的比例更少約30%.這些應該於選校前知道的.家長選擇耀中,就是喜歡她界於國際學校和一般學校之間,符合香港這個有中西特色的社會.

Thanks very much for you all's comments!   It is good to hear both good and bad comments so that I can have a better understanding for this school.

Actually I have gone for 'interview' yesterday and paid the cheques, so my son will start his school life this August. Joshua媽, hope our sons will be 同班同學 lar!  

For K1, we can decide it after their school life starts. I think I will still apply for K1 for some kindergartens by the end of this year, and see if there's any school accepting him after the interviews. If any of my favourite school accepts my son, then I will choose among YC and that school; otherwise, I may stick to YC until K3.....that's my plan....at this moment I will just relax and let my son try the TWO's programme first, and see if it really matches my expectation.

我個女而家o係"多多"度返緊playgroup, 如果你問我覺得佢地點, 我自己就覺得一般般, 但係至少佢個英文老師班主任真係一個純正外國人. 所以我先選擇佢地.

請各位媽咪唔好誤會, 我完全無意去影響其他人選擇耀中既意向. 因為當初我選擇耀中之前都係聽過好多朋友既意見都係一致覺得耀中好, 而且我都有去聽過佢地既講座亦好明白佢地既教育理念. 所以先選擇讀佢地. 之不過到真正上堂既時候, 就未必係我所想既方式, 所以我先退學.

呢個例子只係我個人既見解, 希望同其他媽咪分享吓咋. ^^

For yr 2 class (as I know and any mami please correct me if I am wrong)... no 普通話學...

普通話will be organised for yr 3 and yr 4 class (International stream) only...

外藉老師教英文??? for my understanding from the conversation with Ms Kam... there'll be two teachers in one class, one speaks cantonese and one speaks English... and I have seen that those 2 yr old kids can speak 'English' to the English teacher and 'Cantonese' to the Chinese teacher.

耀中幼兒斑係無普通話架. 每班有兩個老師, 當初我問得好清楚ms kam, 佢地話一個一定係外藉老師 (即唔係本地人講英文既老師) 而另一個係本地母語老師. 我亦都有問過係咪每堂兩個老師都會係度 (因為有d學校既外藉老師係輪班制既, 即係今日係A班聽日係B班) 佢答我係, 但係到我個女上堂果陣就無個外藉老師, (但係隔離班係有既), 當初我以為個老師去左做野所以果日無上堂, 點知堂堂都唔見個外藉老師. 我先去問ms kam點解. 後來佢地真係派左個外藉老師黎, 但係唔講野既. 只係經常"笑". 咁如同無一樣. =-="

容我再問多些問題：有些幼稚園會的主流班會講明一日教1.5小時英語、有些則30-45分鍾，咁YC有無話明一日最少會有幾長時間教英文呢？如果無講明，而個外藉老師又唔肯講的話.... ！  

另外，請問N1-K3課程的程度會唔會好淺？會比啟思更淺嗎？
小學轉返出傳統小學，跟得上嗎？

耀中2歲班應有中英雙語,3小時中,中文堂時間及英文堂時間應該都是各30分鐘,由中,外籍老師教授.但同家長溝通及連繫課堂大小事就係中國籍老師.原則上,外籍老師於3小時皆在課室與小朋友一起.
3歲班以上則分主流班及國際班,國際班為全日班,學費9千多.與2歲班一樣有中外籍老師全日一起.半天的主流班($48xx)有30分鐘英語課,但外籍老師不會立即離開,會逗留課室與小朋友活動,一天約有1至1.5小時左右.
不過若想小朋友多接觸外籍英語老師,建議可報3歲的skippers 班,因半日班($48xx),與國際班一樣有中.英籍班主任.(不過只有下午一班)
小兒由2歲半開始讀耀中,現讀4歲主流班(k2),每日有1.5小時外籍老師(約30分鐘英文課)同在.每星期有2堂普通話(母語普通話老師).程度一點不淺,因小兒已學認中文字50個以上,數學由1至30識寫,英文學懂十多個拼音.甘岩大女幼稚園讀啟思,所以可以話比你知,小兒現在學到的知識差不多好過大女k3畢業時.就是因為大女在幼稚園太淺,現在讀傳統小學好辛苦,故細佬不再選讀啟思law!

多謝你地既回應, 我又對呢間學校多d了解...

其實我並不太著眼於每天有幾多小時教英語之類, 我會著重出到黎個效果多d....就我所聽到既例子, YC既小朋友英語會話溝通係無問題既, 我Interview嗰日亦見到d兩歲小朋友同外藉老師傾得很好....正如校長所講, 佢地無分中文課, 英文課等等, 但總之小朋友係學到佢地要教既野....而佢地K3已經達到local schools P1既程度, 所以銜接上應該問題不大.
但開學後我會留意有無bb_popo121所講既情況出現, 希望只是個別例子, 因interview時校長都有同我講話近排有老師離職而令老師安排上有少許問題, 一般來說係會有固定老師既.....其他學校其實都可能會有類似既問題發生, 但俾比較貴既學費, 對佢地既師資有所要求係無可口非的.

and when I attended the interview on last Oct (the time when 2 yr. old kids had started their study there for 2 months), I found that they could communicate with the foreign teachers without much problem also...

Ha Ha.... your son is the third 'Joshua' that I know...

Both I and my hubby are Christian and we want to choose a name in the bible for our son, we both like Joshua, 佢係一個大能既勇士, 他繼承Moses係最終能帶領以色列人入Cannan...we choose this name for our baby is coz we want his also be a good servant in Lord...

Another Joshua that I know is in my Church, he is a lovely boy (although many people say he is very naughty)... he speaks English very well although both his parents are Chinese... When I attend the Sunday School on Sunday, he always sit beside me... and other mami laughs at me that I've two kids on Sunday!!!
