I don't agree with Dr.Chiu, bilingual is not a problem; In singapore, Malaysia, they iall are using both their mother language and English, or even more .. but they don't have any problem.

I think the most important is not to let chilren watch TV more than 1 hour per day, as more TV, their concentration on study will be less when they grow up, as they only learn from copy, less creative.. and only one-way communication.

我囝囝未夠歲半，已懂不少中、英文生字、詞語。當佢打鼓時，佢會講："打鼓、drum、打鼓、drum..."見到狗，又會："狗、dog..."唔知咁係咪confused呢？？？

我絕對支持雙語甚至多語發展！可惜自己的語言能力有限....但最基本的雙語環境真不能缺少！

一講到這些english materials，很多人的反應就是：常常給小朋友看電視不好，欠缺互動....
我家也有一套DWE，其實裏面的CD比VCD多一倍有多，還有很多books、cards.....而且最重要還有家長的陪伴、參與！

其實一直以來，關於應否讓幼兒學多種語言這topic，都有兩面學說........
每個人的發展都不同，或者真的有些幼兒只適合先學習一種語言，另一些卻能handle多種語言也不會confused.......

星加坡版的dwe 唔 work 係因為只有 書同vcd
港版的dwe d書係一模一樣, 但係27隻 cd 係最寶貴同有用, cd 問題, 要求小朋友回答, 從中吸收。

但係我覺得腦部發展專家並沒有話你知....其實可不可以操流利既英語,同埋佢地腦部既'轉數',邊樣重要?....其實有d人有一個識講英文就高人一等既感覺......以至咁多人都想個細路一出世就用自己半咸不淡既英文同細路交談.....真係除非自己係以英文為母語的(係的話又唔駛呢d DWE)..唔係的話又崇乜洋丫......每一用左一個鐘去睇電視=少左一個鐘去探索佢身邊既事物.............識得用乜語言去講野...並不代表佢幾咁有創造力/轉數快...所以我同健康院既姑娘講,我仔係十一個月已經識講diamond...佢話呢d只係你教佢...佢重覆出黎的...並唔係佢自己既說話...識得重覆幾多..係無意思的.......我覺都幾啱...........我仔講野都幾叻.........但我又覺得佢同其他細路無乜唔同....但心理學家又同我講..我仔應該係資優.........佢地係無因為我仔操幾多國語言而評定佢的.....實在的...我仔只曉廣東話...但佢學野好快.......<<<我諗咁就夠啦.......所以我都好buy趙博士既理念........母語係得一種既啫......屋企講乜就學乜...用呢種語言去諗野(細路).....搞多咁多(bb仔學講野既階段)只會加重佢既負擔....handle好一種之後...再比多幾種都唔係問題.....(我覺)唔係的話,仲會拖慢埋個腦既轉數添

我見有個朋友...佢自己唔係操純正英語(鬼佬英文,唔係廣東英文)但佢個細路就一口流利既鬼佬英文.....原來好簡單....一星期比佢同個西人玩一至兩個鐘......咁就得.....遊戲中學習...呢d咪係比到個環境囉....拎得幾萬銀出黎.....每月一千幾百..我諗都唔成問題既..............

You are right, same as you, language is not the most important thing for my son, as I just treat DWE & ET as toys for my son only.  I will not expect too much on them, hence, both my maid & myself speak English to my son everyday too

As for the 腦部發展 & 轉數, of course I know it is very important la, as that 腦部發展專家 mainly teaches me how to train up these ga, but not teaches me how to use DWE & ET   I trained up my son's 感觀刺激 since he was new born ga la

It is the fact that my son really learned many things from DWE & ET.  If it is useless, I don't think so many people are still willing to spend 幾萬蚊 to buy  

Before I bought ET, I saw many examples that a systematic 英文教材 is really so helpful to kids.  我唔會只信人講, 我一定要睇 outcome, 親眼見過我朋友既小朋友用 ET 用得好, 我先買架

Last but not least, may I say congratulations as your son is a 資優 kid

以我所見......呢樣唔係最好既途徑學習語言..........最好係比到英語環境.......純正英語,並不是廣東英文/菲佣英文,我大女之前真係嚇人......."no need la".....嘩........十居八九做女佣的英文都.................我見過有好的....但係公司人地用萬幾銀以上請到果d..........<<<我又比人鬧架啦.....但係我之前同事(菲律賓人)....我叫佢介紹好既比我...佢話好既都係公司做啦....

仲有........屋企有資優兒....並不是好恭喜的事.......一黎仲有兩件...真係想死........早幾星期知道呢樣野.....真係想喊出黎........其實我只望佢聰聰明明....快高長大.....太聰明我唔識教...........

另外.....有個事實就係....外國既小朋友都唔駛呢d野...咪一樣識聽識講..........我亦都睇到呢個事實...........

我又唔係幾認同.....better than nothing呀.....我個細女...兩歲時無用菲佣....佢走時我女都未識講野........之後我覺唔正不如唔講........咁佢幼稚園時有個鬼婆.....小學又係鬼婆....咁每星期都係大圍得幾堂......但佢出黎既發音又幾好架喎.........佢識既果d句子........係純正英語音調呀......咁同時...我唔會用我不純正既音去同佢溝通/教佢句子....但單字除外............佢一d都沾染唔到廣東音喎..........不過呢d都係我既角度啫...大家分享..........絕對自由

Hey, 我邊有咁多 $ 買兩套丫 我套 DWE 係 copies only. 而 ET 只係 HK$25,460 when I bought in Jan 2005

我個仔歲半都未夠, so I haven't let him jon any Int'l PG at the moment but sure for later la 我個仔都未識講野, 但 at least 我地可以用全英語溝通, 我地用全英語叫個仔做野, 佢完全明白 & 做到架 相反, 我姪女 weekly 咁返 Int'l PG, 亦o係 Kowloon Tong 就讀名校 kindergarten (of course 係外國人教 ga la ) 但當我地同佢講英文, 佢係唔知我地講乜 ga 可能你個小朋友係資優 la 咁你個小朋友可唔可以同外國人用全英語溝通 ga ???  Thanks for sharing la [/quote]

我個女都八歲囉....佢都ok的呀...個仔我就未開始......佢下個月先夠三歲....不過我都開始搵緊d平既鬼佬/婆講故事班....最衰未有地方...唔係就成左事囉

唉........講返要好多精力照顧佢地架原來.....初時我以為我細女只係活動d,腦筋轉得快d,所以一言九頂.......我個仔....比佢問到我口啞啞.....好內疚答唔到佢問題.....有日我話佢知呢d樹有氣根架....呢d係氣根啦....佢問我用黎做乜,咁都仲答到佢....佢再問點解係啡色....唉...我唯有答係色素影響,所以係啡色.....佢再問落去...我真係無能力答佢啦...............
