is it related to whether the mom is working or not? for those waiting list, are you a working mom?

This is an interesting questions. My son got the acceptance letter of SC. ( I requested for the Norfolk campus.am class.) I am a working mum. My son is studying in a playgroup. In his class, those who got the acceptance letter from KV and SC, most of their mothers are working mums, but not all. Some of them are born in Nov and Dec as well. However, my son performed quite well in the interview. Thus, I think his case is normal.

其實考唔考到好小學好睇小朋友表同運氣, 而唔關讀那一個kinder, 無人保證讀名kinder就會考到拔萃,華仁,瑪利諾等小學, 如果有咁既保證, 我都俾個囡去讀, 我唔食都比佢讀.

唔係名牌就一定靚, 都要岩自已, 要有好多配套去配合先發揮到出黎, 正如你拎住個限量版高貴LV, 但配套運動裝, 咁就發揮唔到個靚袋效果.

千祈唔好人地話好就係好, 或者名牌有保證等等(唔通你買件衫著一次爛佐佢會賠比你咩). 最緊要係間學校教學方學適合你小朋友為上.

I am a working mum. My son also got an acceptance letter from SC, but they offered afternoon class for him. ( I requested for Norfolk campus and AM class). Maybe, it's due to my son's poor performance. (He even couldn't tell the teacher who was his mother and he did all the matching wrongly) So, they couldn't offer am session for my son.
However, most probably that my son got accepted was ... I told the teacher that his sister was ex-SC student .

My son's classmates has a brother who is now studying in K.3 SC. However, he got a waiting list letter yesterday. I asked the teacher in the interview if there was any advantage for the siblings. Ths answer is 'no'. The result is totally depends on the kid's performance . But I think there are other factors as well.

i just talked with another mom, she told me her
niece who is University teacher was invited by Baptist University kindergarten to be an interviewer. Since her niece does not have experience in judging the kids, she accepted the kid base on their outlooks, or if she liked them.
if the kids can perform well, and excess the nbr of acceptance, they will use " lucky draw  " method.
I am not sure if SC also is using same method, base on lucky draw.

我估除了performance(答問題及做test)外,老師都會觀察小朋友的專注力,理解能力及學習態度,如果小朋友答中所有問題,但周圍望,唔專心,老師可能會扣分!

同樣地,可能有d小朋友做唔倒d test,但其實佢明白點樣做(睇得出佢明個種),只不過係大,小筋肉未完全develop好,這些都是老師的觀察範圍.

試想那有學校想收一d好叻,但唔專心,周圍走的學生(只是舉例,無意得罪,只是想表達"老師會觀察專注力,理解能力及學習態度").

我個同事幫我問左sc其中一個miss, 她說計分是計很多aspects, 表現只是其中一環, 她說連咬字, 眼神, 父母d gesture, 父母有冇猶豫, 有冇自信...等等, 而最主要就係sc覺唔覺得你係佢柸茶!就算小朋友好主動, 講好多野, 佢可能覺得冇displine都唔頂! 如果你有朋友讀過d面試班, 問下佢地有冇面試計分紙看看, 要計分, interviewer ge 主觀意願係好subjective; 而且, 同分ge情況係好難免, 成2xxx人呀老友, 她說如有同分就抽籤law, 試o下放鬆d la! 其實我個女都係waiting, 不過都冇計ga, 唯有寫信law

My girl and my friend's girl (both are big girls) are also on waiting list.  They both performed pretty well in the interview, they answered all the questions, do correctly in the matching and shaking games.  However, to our surprise, we have two friends whose kids are small kids, they even do not know how to say their names, they got admitted to AM class !
For background, four of us are very similar, both in term of education and jobs.  We are in the mist of how SC select their pupils.  I tend to agree with your guess of having lucky draw when the number of suitable candidates out grow the number of seats.  Anyway, I am very a Q.  I am thinking that this matching game is not suitable for my kid and it is the school's loss of not having my kid as their stduent, she is so wonderful .

等我講一講我以往的經驗, 幾年前我好似各位媽咪一樣, 忙於替小女選kinder, 亦都好相信名牌會令我的大囡能夠容易入讀名小學, 於是就報了九龍塘兩間名kinder, 根德同st.cat, 結果幸運地兩間同時取錄, 係難於選擇時我唯有相信貴些一定好些的道理(因我就算去街市買餸, 如果兩個菜檔一檔賣$5, 一檔賣$6, 我一定會買$6, 因我相信貴些一定有佢既原因), 於是我選擇了貴些那間kinder給我女兒, 每月除了學費$3xxx多,校車連課外活動加埋$7-8000, 三年時間過去了, 我相信呢三年每月比起其他kinder多交仟多元的投資, 應該有少少回報, 但當我小朋友去in 小學時, 絕對無因為我小朋友讀st.cat 而加多d 分, 結果只有一間我麻麻地喜歡私小收佐佢, 反而我同事個小朋友因方便婆婆接放學, 只讀樓下屋村講都無人識kinder, 結果佢入到聖陳守人同拔萃. 很老實, 當時我真的心心不忿, 我每個月比佢多交千多元學費, 3年合共多3萬幾, 目的都是希望小女可以考到好小學, 原來是浪費, 我思前想後, 那我每月多出的學費用途是什麼, 結果是因st.cat 外藉老師比較, 所以學費貴些, 原來那些錢只是幫手出糧比外藉老師, 老實說, 我並不覺得小女及他們同學英文比其他kinder, 與其他kinder不外如是, 只是不怕與外國人接觸, 但有個朋友的小朋友讀根德, 見到外國人一樣不害怕地與他們溝通, 這只是看小朋友性格而定, 有些小朋友比較怕羞見到香港人一樣唔敢同人溝通. 我很後悔每年浪費了萬多元, 我相將這些錢比佢學多幾樣課外活動或帶去外地旅遊, 我相佢得著更大, 所以到我細仔今年都報kinder, 我就先選教學理念為大前題, 另注重身心發展的學校環境好老師有愛心的kinder給他, 而不是追求名牌, 人話好就去追隨.

以上純粹個人經驗之談, 希望各家長能選擇一間適合的kinder 給自己小朋友.

我好同意kakiki嘅講法, 入到sc都唔guarantee 一定入到名牌小學呢.  

各位失望入咗waiting list嘅媽咪: 香港其實仲有好多好好嘅幼稚園, 唔好比自己咁大壓力, 咁樣會好容易影響到個小朋友喲, take it easy!  呀, 有樣嘢值得分享吓: 我仔仔上次去St johannes interview 時見到個著住 SC 校服嘅女仔去in st johannes 嘅k2 (同埋我老公今日去交留位費時都見到佢哋又係交留位費), 雖然我無機會問佢點解讀梗SC都想轉校, 但我自己會覺得好嘢都未必每個人都鐘意, 最緊要係自己覺得舒服呢!  希望各位都搵到間令自己小朋友讀到開心嘅學校吧!    

P.S.  雖然我呢刻都未決定到我仔仔會讀邊間, 不過我唔太心急, 下年先決定吧.

Personally...我覺得佢地prefer working mom多d, 好似taktakma話, "most of his son's class are working mom" 咁學費來源有保証....

I just hear from my friend's daugther.  She shown normal performance going in the interview and the result  - Accepted (am class).

She thing the main point, may be her daugther studying in their nursery la..  :

I agree her point, sc may kept a number of seats to their pn students. (Just my opinion)
