去年我同囡囡去根德園interview，本來預備唱twinkle twinkle little star, 點知去到時，佢突然話唱jingle bells，點知除左第一句外，其他基本上聽唔到，但係你知佢應該唱緊歌，老師好有耐性咁扮聽﹗我諗係有唱歌的意識多過唱到首歌﹗（我估計﹗）
至於say thank you，我都係照提囡囡講，做反平時自己﹗

For SC, you can choose to interview in English, and I think the waiting time is shorter too because there should be fewer children going for English interview.  Last year, the interview in English was fairly easy.

In the application form of SC, I have chosen Cantonese as the media.  But if sometimes my kid use English to answer the question during the interview, is it acceptable for them?  

Or if I suddenly change my mind and want my kid using English as a media in the interview, is it fine with them too?

Actually my kid can speak fair Eng and Can so I'm not quite sure how to arrange.

I'd suggest you choose the language that your child is most comfortable with.  If you speak Cantonese at home, then choose Cantonese.  If you use English, choose English.  I think it's better for you to decide ahead of time what language to use to avoid unnecessary stress on you and your child. But if you have to change, ask the staff there.  You'll go to a different room for English interview.

For SC, you cannot answer in Cantonese if you choose to interview in English as it's conducted by a native speaking teacher.  She probably won't understand the answers in Cantonese.

can you tell us how was the interview that you have last year? Did you take English session or Cantonese session? If English session, what kind of questions did the teacher ask the child? What kind of activities did they have? And did the teacher asked parent questions as well?

My daughter took the interview in English. There were 2 teachers in the classroom, one was a westerner and the other was Asian (perhaps British born Chinese).  There were some chairs for us to sit down while waiting inside the classroom.  My daughter could not sit still and so she played in the kitchen corner while waiting for her turn. She was then interviewed by the Asian who was the next available teacher.  The questions were fairly easy:  What's your name?  How old are you?  Who's that (pointing to me)?  Where's your nose?  The teacher then asked her to sort colours.  She also showed her some cards (e.g. banana, pencil, book, butterfly) and asked her which one could be eaten, questions like that.  Then the teacher asked me:  Why do you choose SC?  What's your expectation about your child, her education and the school? How much time do you spend with your child?  What do you do together at weekends?  Would you accept p.m. session?

My daughter didn't answer everything right. She refused to tell her age.  She also didn't do the sorting game right but finally she was offered a place in the morning session.

This is my experience with SC.  Hope it helps.

I chose Cantonese as SC interview language last year since my daughter spoke in English most of the time but she might speak in Cantonese sometimes. I was afraid the western teacher didn't understand if she answered in Cantonese suddently!

During the interview, she answered all the questions in English even the teacher asked her in Cantonese. Finally, SC offered a place for her and she is studying K1 at SC now. Good luck you all!

I think I will still choose Cantonese.  The local teacher understand both Eng and Can but the native English teacher may not know what she say if she speak in Can.  I think this is the best arrangement.

I'm afraid that my daughter won't sit still as well if she sees the attractive kitchen 'cos she loves to play in those kitchen.

Are we suppose to sit on those small chairs during the interview? I let my daughter sit on those small chair and asked her some basic questions. However, she didn't sit still and she keep on kicking my legs.

Yes, in the classroom that we went to, there were two teachers sitting at separate tables each conducting an interview at the same time.

We waited in one big classroom first and then moved on to the interview classroom and there we sat in the small chairs by the door to wait for our turn.  When my daughter saw the toys, she just went to play.  Even when it was her turn, she refused to put down the toys.  It happens.  If your kid loves to play, it's natural and normal.  After all, they're only 2 year olds.  Don't worry about it!

Yes, my daughter will have the interview at St. Cath in the morning and in the afternoon, she needs to go to Kentville. And some other parents in BK said that maybe York will also conduct their interview on the same day as well ...............
