Ballet Class

My girl start ballet just 2 mths ago (July) when she was 2yrs 11 mths.  I tried out a no. of ballet school and finally selected Danse a Lili (曾雪麗) in Causeway Bay despite it is a bit expensive ($980/mth).

The reasons I take Danse a Lili are as follows:
1.  The class size is not that big, usually around 5 to 8 pax, the teacher can talk to each kid and there is close interaction between them;
2.  They have different class for different age.  For my girl's class (KB3), the kids are all around 3 yrs old.  And, kids will get promote to another class in May each year such as KB4 for 4 yrs old and so on.  You will not find your 3 yrs old kid learning with 6 yrs old kid at same class.
3. The class is conducted in English and thus my girl can practise English at the same time;
4.  Although the kid enjoy playing and running most of the time, the teacher did teach them some thing seriously, such as how to bow, how to tip-toe, how to use heel to run.
5.  The school has annual performance (in addition to other performance opportunity) every year and all the kids, even the kids learning in KB3 (ie 3 yrs old) did join the performance.  I cannot find this kind of performance opportunity for my 3 yrs old girl for the other ballet school, especially for the very small ones (no performance chance)and the very big ones (no performance for the younger kids).

These are the reason I join Danse A Lili and hope it is useful for you.

My girl has also attend trial class on KB2, it is more music rather than ballet.  But my girl enjoyed it so much.  Even now, she still say hello to the teacher (Ms. Panda).

I also has one neighhour who joined KB2 as her girl is 2-1/2 yrs old.

I strongly recommend you to have a trial class there as it is free of charge and you will know whether your kid and you like it or not.

They also have school in Mei Foo, but I was told that it only has 1 classroom and comparatively small.  But, school fee is cheaper in Mei Foo.

BTW, is my memory correct? are you still considering to have ice-skating for your girl coming Sept?

my girl joined lili at 2.  she was very unhappy at that time because the teacher is a bit strict and serious.  i tried a few lessons and then stopped.  

then my girl started the class again half year later and now she quite enjoys the class.  

Can the kid really learn any ballet at 2.5 years old?  In fact the kid can join Pre-Primary class only when he/she is 5 years old.  So will it be better to send the kid to join ballet beginner class at 4? (at least they can understand the teacher's instructions)

I also agreed with Che as why we bother they are too young to learn 100% of what the teacher teach them.

What I think the most important things are (1) whether my girl enjoys it and whether it can stimulate / build her interest in performaining art; and (2) whether she has improvement each time (eg she may not be able to follow some movement for the first time but after several classes and practises, she can manage and has the idea that she can has breakthrough after giving effort).  These are my reasons for letting my girl to start ballet in such early age.

May be I am a bit idealistic, but this is my belief for letting my girl to join different activities.
