Unless your working environment allow you to communicate with native English speakers for years, you will never be at close to native level. It's not only about learning the language, but more of the culture that shapes the language. A simple English phrase as 'that's interesting' means differently for British and American.

Actually one can easily achieve bilingualism with both languages at native levels when small. You don’t really need to worry your kid will become non-native in English if he also masters Chinese well at home.
Actually he speaks Cantonese with 5 of his family members at home. I only started speaking English to him since half a year ago. I wasn’t worried at all because I think he will learn Cantonese/Mandarin somehow, because only 1 out of his 6 family members can speak fluent English with him (we have no maid). He has quite good exposure to Putonghua and Chinese words / Chinese culture through his grandparents, he will not refuse to learn the Chinese language.
