其實Teresa之前所答的都很正確, 面試時臨場表演是最重要的, 而且現在出生率下降, 就算高主教過去是喜歡收大仔的相信現在都要改變做法了.

雖然我不明白為何你有這兩間學校選擇, 但對我自己來講選擇越多反而越多考慮, 我當初選基恩時主因當然是因為免費而且比較近屋企, 更因有幾個鄰居的小朋友都就讀基恩所聽到的口碑唔錯, 當時我跟所有媽咪一樣考了兩間做後備而兩間都交了留位費, 但當我第一輪派不到時便決定讀高主教, 除了因學費可接受並且更近屋企, 經過了這一年仔仔的學校生活我發覺我的決定是無錯, 當中很多細節很難在此詳盡分析.

Appreciate your sharing.  You're right in saying more choice more worry.  My gut feeling is Raimondi is a better school.  However, since my son is studying in Victoria, he is very use to learn by activity.  That's why Kei Yan make better sense to him except English standard may not be high enough.

Does your son has schoolmates from Victoria too?  How are they performing in school?

其實你真係唔洗擔心咁多.  小朋友有6年讀小學, 點會適應唔黎? 而且2間學校既學生都來自不同學校, 各有不同性格, 總會合得來的.  呢2間學校都係好學校, esp. 基恩, 係區內同聖彼得有得揮既小學.  人人都係咁讀, 冇理由你仔仔唔得.

It would be earlier if I were deciding my own destiny - not my son.  

But Teresa, you're supportive, positive and very reasonable.  I'm sure your kids will grow up happily.

i'm quite sure that raimondi does accept younger kids as my son was born in october & one of his kindergarden classmate was born in november, and they're both accepted last year.

so far, i found kids do enjoy their school lives at raimondi!

d 人話高主教係好傳統教學, 程度又高, 成日要keep 住好成績, 否則老師就會call 家長, 請問係咪咁樣? 咁小朋友或家長係咪都好大壓力?

因我自己的小朋友在學術方面能夠輕鬆應付所以還未發覺有壓力問題, 據我所知是真有小一生要留班的, 但我所認識的高年班家長講到小三就真係深咗好多, 有很多小三生已經要補習或全職媽咪全力應付, 而且這兩年學校不斷改課本, 好似明年小一生的數學已經大部份是英數了, 至於是活躍型小朋友很視乎他上堂的表現, 有啲小朋友雖然活躍但上堂都能定下來的, 而學校也會放很多時間讓小一生慢慢適應佢嘅教學方法.

i did go for the registration in person w/ my boy and have a chat w/ his teacher. so far i found tiger can cope w/ it quite good. what a relief!

Thanks everyone for sharing the information.  We shall visit Raimondi tomorow.  Hopefully we can understand the school better.

Visited Raimondi today.  We felt all teachers are very nice, patient and kind to children.  The "Head Teachers" are very presentable too.  My son enjoyed a good afternoon.

According to  "Head Teacher", Raimondi is going to teach English in English and Chinese in Mandarin during class.  This is a plus to us.

Starting next year, all grades will be full-time.

Secondary school has 4 classes.  85% will be reserved for primary school.  However, since primary school has 5 classes, effectively about 60-70% of students will be able to promote to own 2ndary school.  My guess is the top 5% of students may choose other schools so more students should have chances to go in 'one dragon'.

My son has been studying in Raimondi for 3 years and will be P.4 coming September.  This is a very traditional school. I believe this school can be considered as a demanding school. But, to be fair, the homework is reasonable.  Normally, my son can finish all the homework in 1.5 hours. For the exam, only top ten students of each class can get a place. I still can remember how disappointed I was for his first exam in P.1, he got no places (the point is he always got full marks or 9X marks for all subjects whenever tests or dictation, etc) I thought he was "失手" on his exam but actually still all in "A". After that, I truely understood how hard-working and serious the students and their mothers there. So, starting P.1 2nd term, I put my every effort to my son, esp for his exam. I buy a lot of execise for him to do. My effort had not wasted. He got the 8th place at his 2nd term of P.1. And then P.2, both terms got the 3rd place. This year, he got th 4th at the 1st term & the 6th at the final (coz his marks on Chinese jumped down a lot -- 76 only, but he got full marks on Maths).  He never feels pressure on studying and doing extra execrise. I'll ask him to do 20 pages execrise a day when the time close to exam. He is willing to do coz he knows how important it is. He understands that if he don't hard-working to prepare the exam well, he will waste what he done so far (for the 4 major subjects, only the marks of exam will be counted to the report).  I missed it at the 1st term of P.1. After I know the "game", I set the strategy to it. Don't think I am very pushing my son every day coz I am lazy too, hehe. I won't ask my son to review the textbook if no tests or dictations. I'll just ask him to do some execrise (1-3 pages) when he finished the homework. But, I will be very serious and crazy when the exam time is getting close (of course I will take some day off to studying with my son) Since he is weak in Chinese and gets not stable marks in English, my requirement to my son is he has to get higt marks at Maths and General Studies/Science. Esp GS/Science, I will digest all the textbooks, execrise, test paper, etc & prepare a "mock" paper for him. He is always good a Maths, but I will tell him the most efficient & effiective way to do the sums and check the sums.

Anyway, I am still worry about the coming year. As I told before, he is really weak in Chinese and I don't konw how to help him. God bless!

All in all, I satisfy with the school so far, some time you'll come across with stubant teachers though.  I am confident to tell you Raimondi is definitely consider as a good school, but only in Primary session. I heard that the Secondary session is not that good, probably close to last places of Band 1 school.  My plan is that if my son can have great improvement coming year and fight for top 3 or above, I'll try to knock the door of St. Paul Co-ed or St. Pauls boys (both schools have Secondary School which are top top among their peers)

I enjoy every school vacation, esp the summer vacation. I am too tired to come back from work, and check homework, prepare dictations, tests,..........every day. I feel relax right now & enjoy every day until September.....

I'm very glad to hear your honest, fair and informative comments on Raimondi.  No one knows better than a care mother.

Both of us are working parents.  We really worry how much time we can spend with our son on homework everyday.  To be frank, we enjoy very much to play game and tell stories with him.  But when it comes to homework, we are not too keen (very lazy!).

May I ask if you son really like study?  I think I need to 're-train' myself to provide guidence to my son in a different way.  What I'm doing now don't seem to be enough as my son still not able to enjoy doing his homework (even though it's not too much consider Victoria is a new-gen school).

I feel lucky to hear parent like you sharing your experience.  Thank you!

I suggest you take a more relaxing attitude and continue with what you are doing if you choose Raimondi. This is prabably one of the very few schools in this area I feel comfortable with the idea of not buying any supplementary exercise books for the students. The school gives out a lot of worksheets on most subjects: English, Maths, GS. The also have revision papers before the exam and so called "温習卷" every now and then. My advice to the parents are to revise them before exams instead of doing more supplementary exercises.

You only need to consider otherwise when you see there are academic problems with the boy. Save the time for supplementary exercises on reading story books, Chineses and English. This is the best way to prepare him for his academic future.
