Sorry for late reply.

Yes, my son will be the P.1 student in the coming school year.

I mean the higher standard is cover all the subject.  I really colllect many parents and Bk parents suggestions before I made the decision.  I opened a vote in this web-site at the beginning of the year.  It sure most of the parents, about more than 2/3 parents will chose SFA rather than APS.

In fact, I like the both the schools too.  My son is also good at playing piano and violin.  He suits both the schools too.  After my deep investigation and consideration, I took SFA as my final.

There are no compulsory activities in SFA.  The school encourages the students to join the activites in order to have a balance development.

Concerning about the secondary school net, yes...I know APS is better than SFA.  However, I may let him to apply La-Salle or DPS or DBS 's P.2 next year.   That why I will plan his secondary road in later future.

Dear Leungleung mom:

The similar case and way with you.  My son also knows piano and violin, I won't buy APS compulsorily requests pupils learning instruments and even counts mark in their ranking.  For pupils not really having talent and interests, it seems so unfair.
Let see if our kids can mange well in the coming P.1 life.  I also planning to let him applying the La Salle and DPS in P.2.

When I read the message from the Net, I found that most parents take SFA as a stepping stone.  Most of them are planning to applying the other school in P.2.  Are I right?  Is it because the net of SFA is changed?  Before the SFA graduates can go to the Kowloon King's but they can't.  Could someone tell me?  Thanks a lot!

There is no change in the net of SFA. The academic results of SFA and APS are very good. So a number of their students can successfully apply schools in the stage of Discretionary Places (DP) 「自行分配」, which is not restricted by districts. Moreover, there are a small number of places of 九龍華仁 allocated to Kowloon net 2 & 3.

Students can also apply for cross-net allocation and the allocation can be done according to their home addresses.

As I know it is not easy to be accepted by La-Salle or DPS or DBS 's P.2.  Do you hear any success case?  If have, how do those schools assess the student?

我記得以前睇過APS既WEBSITE，BAND1生有8X％，佢SCHOOL NET真係好好，但睇佢WEBDATA升中派位,睇到一舊雲，拔萃男書院99－01兩年有7位，最多o果兩年02－04係22個，係咪即一年11個??
另外喇沙書院最多o果兩年6位,即一年派3個?而女生方面，最多o果兩年入左16位協恩，即一年8個?
If I wrong, pLs correct.

In APS, marks of music are counted, but it is not significant. Its weighting is the same as art and other minor subjects, while the weighting of each main subject, e.g. Chinese, English and Maths, are 3 times of the music subject.

WEBDATA升中派位，拔萃男書院99－01兩年有7位，最多的兩年02－04係22個。因為呈分是5年班和6年班，所以是2年，02-04代表在02-03讀5年級，然後03-04讀6年級的學生，即04年6年班畢業。應是2004年拔萃收了22個學生。

As far as I know, SFA has only 1 success case for the slot application for P.2-P.6 to La Salle Primary during the past two years. However, there are more than 100 SFA students to DPSPD last year mainly in P.2 & P.3.

For P.4 to P.6, my friend tells me that DPSPD admitted more students for APS than SFA students mainly APS students have the music weapon such as G.8 dist and school music fest champion as young as P.4.

For DPS, the slot-class tests Chinese, English & Maths. But I hardly heard the successful case either from SFA or APS. In fact, some said that DPS announces that there was no vacany for the slot application this year even though as many as 20 students have transferred from DPS to DBSPD last year.

For La Salle, the prinicipal just picks up several students to attend Chinese, English, Maths test followed by interview each year. From the BK forum, I was given to understand that several Kowloon Tong School students were admitted by La Salle during the past two years. Maybe Kowloon Tong parents can confirm this.

I think if you are not the first five in the form in SFA or APS, La Salle would not peer an eye on your child by offering you interview/written test. Hope I 'm wrong.

If not for the newly opened DPSPD, I think no more than 45 students from both APS and SFA could be promoted to DBS each year according to the past statistics. Also, there are about 10 students from both APS and SFA to La Salle Secondary each year from these two years' statistics.

So, why not consider other schools as DBS and La Salle are very very difficult to enter nor knock their doors?

My son is studying at the kindergarten of APS, so he is familiar with the school environment and some of his classmates would study at APS, too.  However, I wonder whether he likes music or not.  He likes singing but he seemed impatient when he learned piano.(when he was 4)

His English is good.  (but I always come home late)

Do you have any recommendation about his case?  APS or SFA?
