I want to gather more information about Med. 報UCAS做backup, and your son is studying Med in HKU. Can you share which England University your son has applied for backup? Which faculty? What are the conditional offers?

Since UCAS is a backup plan, we do not spend too much time on the preparation works.  We just googled the univeristy ranking & the subject ranking, excluded those in the north, then chose 5 within the top 10.   He got 4 conditional offers except Cambridge.  His firm choice is Imperial while insurance choice is UCL.  The condition was not difficult to meet,  3 electives scored min "5" in the DSE.   
My son chose Biological Sciences in UCAS.   Apart from having genuine interest in this subject,  he has taken different exposure related to Medicine during the previous summer holiday, so it's easier for him to relate this experience to the subject in his personal statement.   Hope the sharing helps.

其實DSE 的 "5**" 和 "5*" 是否等於A level 的 "A*" 和 "A"，有人説"A" 只是 = 4，沒有差這麼遠呀? 英國考A level 都不是係人都A 啦! 應該只是有限人考得到A*，好像也是有quota及拉curve制, 對嗎？同香港5**，5*，5的distribution 近似，咁咪應該:
A*=5**
A=5*
B=5
C=4
D=3
E=2
U=1 (fail)

請問有沒有人清楚DSE/A level 轉換法及英國A level 計分法？

佢有佢講，大學有自己計算，看番舊post入医平均低要dse 三個5**+一個5*+其它，見在家長講佢朋友三個A*+一個A有offer，計番差不多，5**=A*,5*=A

看番舊post*申請英學大學conditional offer考Al有否優勢*會明白分數

That's interesting as far as I know only Edinburgh may give an offer without an interview all the medical schools you mentioned will reject anyone without an interview. Did your son actually travel four times separately ( hard to imagine that their interviews would all happen on the same day or even a few days apart ) to England to attend such interview and secure an offer each ?
I remember vaguely your past mentioning of your visit to England last December with your son to attend an interview at Cambridge ......

Your son did not choose Med. in England. Any reasons?

Besides, I find that not too many universities in UK provide Medical Laboratory Science. If they have to practise as Medical Laboratory Professionals, which subject they have to take in UK?

Top UK universities tend to adopt 3 DSE electives and take 5* & 5 as equivalent to GCE AL A* & A while UCAS tariff is not commonly used.
