I was educated in the US and my husband in the UK. He told me he has always been with his friends from HK all the time from boarding school to university. Most people from HK do still stay with asians all the time anyway. In fact, even UK born asians, they tend to mingle with people from their own ethnicity too. This happens in the US as well.
Bunnygirl had different experience because she was already working when she moved to the UK and had to move outside her comfort zone.
Not all UK universities are good. Unless you are sure to get offer from oxbridge, lse, imperial, etc. There are a lot of other schools that are not exactly good.
