can you sharing your experience to me? I want to send my son to UK in yea ... My son went at year 7 too. My opinion is the earlier is the better if your child is mature and independent enough for boarding life.
If you go at Year 9, it takes a term or two to pick up the language as well as the new environment. Then it soon starts the gcse syllabus, to be followed by the busy A level.
If you go at Year 7, you will have plenty of time to enjoy school life - the green environment, the group activities and to develop some friendships.
You have to bear in mind that your child may miss you and home. Hence, I have my son back 4 times a year (OCT break plus 3 term breaks) and I visit him once to twice a year. So, we see each other every 2 months.
My son called me everyday in the first year. After a year, he now calls 3-4 times a week. He said busy busy ... Anyway, he still wants to see me and back home during school holidays.
There is one disadvantage going at year 7 - some reputable schools particularly single sex one start at year 9.
