My son has started his piano lessons 4 months ago, I am now considering to buy a piano for him. But, my flat cannot accomodate a real piano, so someone recommended me to buy a digital piano (mode: Yamaha Clavinova digital piano CLP-115)

Do you have any suggestions or comments? Please help!!!

I used to visit Tom Lee T.S.T. & TKO shops, and consulted with the sales about piano/digital piano there.  Per my understanding, if you really consider to buy digital piano, you should at least buy Yamaha Clavinova digital piano the model#CLP-130 or above.   Start from this model#CLP-130, the piano has the key touching adjust function.

There was a boy (who was employed to play piano in the shop) told me that there was no problem for children to pass the public piano exam up to grade 4-5 by using #CLP-130 (or above) at home.  He played piano many years, he found the digital pinao has big+big improvement nowaday.   For lower grade candidate, there is no big difference between using lower model piano and using higher model ditigal piano.  In his old days, all of his friends used "no famous brand name" piano to practise fingers/song at home and he could pass all exam......The "tool" is a factor, but the key point he thinks is how eager and how hardworking the children to/on their piano learning.

I don't know if his information is correct or not, and I just want to post to share with you all .

我屋企看過是可以呀.....鋼琴 depth & height 比較 model:CLP 115 大好多 , 而且我想是用來練習, 其他 above model CLP 有很多 function,會另小囡禁來禁去.  不專心.

我係"柏斯"見過 F 系列, 手感和音色都比 "Casio" 好, 和身型比 "Yamaha" -CLP 款嬌小Ｄ。

Many thanks for your advice! I'd like to know how does the key touching adjust function for CLP-130 work. Is it used for adjusting the feel or the power of touch?

Is it true that model below CLP-130 cannot be used for Grade 4 or 5?? I've got the info from Tom Lee website that there are just a few differences between 120 and 130.

I share the same view as yours! But after reading the comment from E.Y., I start wondering if I need to buy a higher CLP model since I am so concern about the feel of touch! However, the price difference between CLP-115 ($8,500) and 130 ($12,500) is big too!

I think I need to go to Tom Lee again to talk with the salesperson.

BK is a forum to share information+experience together, and so please do not mention my reply as "advice"  .  I'm pleased to share the information with you .

Indeed, I'm not really professional to digital piano field.  Last time, I pretended I knew nothing about piano & digital piano when I talked to the sales & that boy in shops.   It was great to have some new knowledge.   

Will you have time to visit Tom Lee shop???  Go to ask for #CLP-130 demonstration from the sales for you.    Hope you can find what you need from there.
