I see. The university counsellors at my son's school are not just for Oxbridge specifically. One counsellor is mainly responsible for all UK applications for all students.
I did ask the 師兄, who was admitted to Oxbridge, if he had sought help from outside consultants. The answer was no. He sought advice from school counsellor. Therefore, I followed his route.

You may want to check if the 師兄師姐 who were admitted to Oxbridge if the school counsellor advice is useful, or if they had used consultants before.

It's difficult to predict his IB results. 1st of all, he didn't tell me in details what he felt about each paper. I got short comments such as "I know the topics", "The questions are so tricky", "I didn't expect a question like that. It's difficult". Secondly, more than half of the answers are essay type. It's difficult to predict how high or low score he will get. The only papers that he are confident with are Math papers. Thirdly, he didn't like to check if he got the correct answers after the exam, at least not telling me the result. Finally, it's very easy to down 1 grade from his ideal grades. I predict that he might be just 1 or 2 points below grade 7 in most subjects, which make a huge difference between whether he can make the offer or not.
And it is the difficult part about IB exams.

係 university admission 方面學校幫唔幫到手就真係好睇個別學校幾注重，放幾多資源落去個 department 和請到什麼經驗 嘅 councilor。環顧香港、我個人認為得幾間中學（包括一些國際學校和 2-3 本地直資名校）有好出色嘅 councillor team 去幫學生申請外國 (特別英美) 大學。所以如果你呀仔間學校幫唔到手，可以試吓出邊嗰啲預備班包括 CSFC。

他必須明白過份緊張係大忌, 因為會影響表現.  成日擔心入唔到, 注意力無形中放在這問題上, 好容易令溫習時變得唔專心.  其實入唔入到係要睇自己及其他申請者的相對實力再加一點點運氣.  自己只能盡力做到最好, 而其他人嘅表現等因素根本係自己能力範圍以外嘅野, 完全控制唔到, 擔心緊張亦無補於事. 最後要明白讀書只是人生一個階段. 因為自己嘅努力入到自己夢想的大學固然值得高興, 但入唔到亦唔係世界末日. 盡咗力就OK咯.  讀書只係頭盤. 往後出嚟做事嗰幾十年先係主菜.  當你食緊主菜或甜品時又鬼有人理得你頭盤食甚麼咩(在那裏讀書咩).

My son's offer conditions are exactly the same as those listed under the "Requirement" of that subject in the University website. Sorry, I don't what to disclose it exactly here, as it's my son's privacy. He will kill me if he knows I am making comments here.

Some of my son's classmates also got conditional offers from Oxbridge. Their offer conditions also closely follow those listed on the website. If the typical offer conditions are IB 40-41, a very strong candidate got IB 40 as the condition, while a relatively weaker candidate got IB 41. Their predicted scores are higher, at least IB 42.

According to my son, the most important parts of the admission process are Predicted score (important), Personal statement (less important, this piece is extremely easy as compared with their US essays), Written test (very important), Interview (extremely important).

要盡量令他不可有非君不嫁的念頭. Many universities are equally good, e.g. Imperial College, LSE, UCL, HKU/CU elite programs. As written test and interview actually decide if the candidate will be admitted, it will pretty much depend on 狀態 and luck.

The oxford conditional offer could be as low as 38.

Cambridge conditional offers are typically IB 40-41 or sometimes IB 42.
Oxford conditional offers are usually IB 38-40 depending on courses applied.

That's why I can't disclose my son's offer conditions. Once disclosed, one may easily guess whether it's Oxford or Cambridge.

I bought and read the whole book. I felt I became clearer in all aspects of the admission process. There are quite some samples of personal statements of candidates who were actually admitted to Oxbridge, and some sample interviewing questions and technique too.

Mine is for 2015 entry. I think there should be an updated one for 2016 entry.

Actually, you did mention (in other thread) that your son's oxbridge offer is same as his LSE and UCL offers which are typically IB point 38. People  already know your son's offer is from Oxford. Be more cautious when giving comment on social media. Anyway congrats. I am sure your son will make it, he wouldn't get too bad grade even he messed up some paper.
