Which school has very high English Standard ?

International schools are not for everyone.

And truly English Schools are very few in HK.

Discussion of this topic help us to understand they do exist.

What's your standard of being truly english schools? I cannot think of one off hand.
Truly english schools to me are all english environment and english conversation among students themselves--  just like those in singapore, but i cannot think of one local HK school that have chinese students speaking pure english among themselves within school campus, apart from international school i guess. Not DBS, not DGS, not....
maybe i'm wrong? anyone can suggest?
and i agree with msma that "其實至ｔｏｐ　果四五間ｄ叻學生都係差唔多架詐　！　無話邊間叫叻中之叻架　！　" top school still has weak english students and i expect the top students of the top schools have excellent english.

If really have to nominate, my list will be:
St Paul's co-ed
Diocesan Boys'
Diocesan Girls'
Maryknoll Convent
St Stephen Girls'
Marymount
St Mary
St Joseph
(random ranking)

i wonder int'l schools with lots of local Chinese students (80-90%+) will speak English outside the classroom too.

Yes, they don't speak English outside class, they speak french! :

Also, a lot of local Chinese students of Int'l school speaks English after school, at least the top ones. I have this problem/advantage? with my child too.

You have taken my quote too seriously.. No offense and it's just a joke! True, knowing how to speak French does not mean they are good at English as well, oui ou non?

In fact, Spanish is very important too as well as German. Wish I knew any one of these languages.

Anyway, HK is not Singapore and there aren't any local school that communicate thru purely English, at least to my knowledge.  It would seem ..odd.

By the way, I wouldn't want to hear all HK people speak English but with an Singaporean accent.

i guess you are not saying main conversion language, may be some students just practising a bit after class for fun only.

i talk to them in English.

As my office is close to DGS, I often have lunch with the girls together. Honestly, I have never heard them speak French. Most of them however switch between English and Cantonese, with excellent accent in both languages.

Putonghua is the medium of instruction in one class of each Form. So I would expect them to be good at Putonghua too, though I have never heard them converse in that language in public.

That French is taught in some schools in Hong Kong I think has a religious history. These schools are mostly Catholic schools with a French missionary background.

By the way, I understand that MCS no longer teaches French.

Ok Ok, as I said, don't take the French incidence so seriously since those who take French class are minority.

well, at least those with HK accent know their discrepancies and refrain from speaking English as if they are speaking in perfect accent in a regularly basis.
