1. In these prestigious primary schools (even their affliated secondary school), they surely have repeaters. From primary to secondary classes. Who said that there weren't repeaters?
2. I do agree that calibre of students from lucky draw may not be as stable as those from older education ie by interview, but due to reason that primary students cannot be promoted straight to their own secondary schools like other private/DSS, i am sure students themselves are even more hardworking than those private/DSS students, of whom they have no worry to promote to secondary.
I trust the high standard of teachers among 名津小 and even a higher standard of the affliated secondary school, because of the intake of top ?85% and also high calibre students from other school.

Also, my observation is, these schools succeed because of both their intake of students and their way of teaching at the primary level.

Even though a large percentage of students enters by lottery, many of them are already prepared for the tough requirements.  Those unlucky few who are not so well-prepared are destined to exit the school before or after P.6.  A mom who wants her kids to study in Maryknoll or La Salle will do everything to prepare their kids before P1.  And after they've started their primary school life, they will keep helping the kids along the way.

And most of these prestigious schools have their own way of teaching, which is tougher than ordinary primary schools.  When they get to secondary schools, their foundation is very sound and can afford the time to participate in different activities, instead of playing catch-up.
