Don't be so sure.
Different medical schools have different admission criteria.
While you may be right in general, there are medical schools which will give preference to History Chem Maths over Chem Bio Maths as they like candidates to offer a 'contrasting' subject.

Thank you caa for this piece of news.
I knew Gove was under a lot of pressure with his proposed reform but didn't know he had surrendered!
I must have been on hoilday when this news came out.

Pudding,

其實好多海外學生都無讀 GCSE English，反而較多人take CAT,FCE, or IGCSE English。而 GCSE Maths, Physics, Chemistry & Biology 係 Y10 & 11 完成的，不是 Y11 only。
我只係分享我果時讀左D咩，唔係話我咁讀一定岩。

而且去到申請大學時，大學無要求睇我 GCSE 既科目。佢地只係睇 A-Levels。

The reason why I found it curious is that in general IGCSE is considered to be more challenging than GCSE and that's why most elite schools have switched to it.Also most schools I know tend to allow Maths and foreign languages to be taken a year early, and it is most unusual for oversea students to be allowed to take English early.
That's why your case is an exception rather than the norm!

我真係毫無頭諸, agent 又幫忙不大, 知道各位有經驗, 請指點:

1. 係唔係讀完hk local school grade 9, 申請英國grade 10, or grade 11.
(因為hk grade 9, 如轉入esf, 係grade 11)

2. agent 叫我先做一個test, 睇下佢個standard, 有用嗎? agent 只會推薦一些有聯系的學校, 係唔係要搵多幾間agent?

3. agent AA 話好多學校, 好少收grade 9 grade 10, 最好申請grade 11. 啱唔啱?

4. 小兒就特愛humanity的科目, 知道佢有意思向這方向發展, 才打算申請英國的中學, 不是盲目跟風. 如果成績可以, 進取D可以考慮邊幾間中學?

1) UK school 跟 ESF 是一樣的, 所以讀完本地學校 Year 9 ((中三) 便應讀 Year 11 ( 中五 ), 跟𨍭往國際學校沒有分別 . 原因很簡單, 因本地學校是六歲入小一, 而 UK schools 跟國際學校一樣是五歲入小一 (Year1）- 細仔細女除外。
2) 考 Agency 試也無妨, 但如果自己已清楚小朋友的水平也可以直接報學校, 不須經 Agency.
3) 大部份學校收得最多學生是 Year 9. 很少學校肯收 Year 11, 因為 Year 11 尾考 GCSE, 不夠畤間準備.
4) 如果 aim for humanity subjects 就須多做功課, 不可單看 ranking, 因為有些近年冒起得很快的學校, 如 Concord College, 收大量海外生來推高成績, 它們會傾向理科較強. 傳統 elite schools 可能比較適合.

乜HK讀完F3 過UK 唔係讀yr 10 咩？我經agents 報已有學校收左讀yr 10。 會唔會agents 撹錯㗎！

AA都係話比我知, G8 apply G9, not G10, 但我個friend 係Grade 7 apply Grade 9. 所以我在這兒問吓.
