The answer for the topic is obvious. We want our kids to study in a 'good' school. Usually these famous schools cannot stay famous if they are not really good. Each school (or actually every place) has its own culture and we want that culture to shape our kids for the rest of their life. There are two things that we should consider. Firstly, is 'the thing' that the school 'good at' is really what we want? Secondly, school can't famous forever. We should update our knowledge of reality.

Agree with everything you said. Would make two additions. One is to build intellectual curiosity. I think it is important for the kids to want to learn themselves at a young age so that they will explore, find things that interests them and then learn more. Second is to know how to make friends. This has nothing to do with meeting "high society" or building a social network. It is just about how to be a sociable person and having good social skills to be able to make friends.

I did not think about my children's career. It is their own life and they should decide it by themselves. What I can do is to provide a platform for them to develop.

Actually your question is quite interesting. If my child has ability, why not choose a good primary school for him? Would anyone choose a bad primary school for his/her child?
