My daughter now study 中英文班PN & I propose that I will let her study 國際班K1 in Sep05.  That depends on her progress.

My daughter was born in October 2003. I applied to 樂基(駿景園) nursery class but at the interview I was told that as my daughter would only be 2 years old in October, they could only offer her a place after they had given offers to those children who were already 2 years old by September on their waiting list. Basically, the chances of her getting an offer were very small. I therefore asked the teacher at the interview whether the school would consider my bb for next year's nursery class ie when bb would be 2 years 10 months. She told me that they would not consider her as she would be too old for their nursery class. Therefore what she was telling me was that they were discriminating against my bb for being born in October!!! that made me very angry!

Anyway, for the interview, my bb was just 15 months old - the teacher asked her where her eyes, nose, mouth were, who was mummy and who was daddy, she gave my bb a book to look at and asked her where the baby was in the picture! She also asked me and my husband whether we took bb to the library to read books !!!! My bb is 15 months and they expect us to take her to the library.

Basically, my impression of the school was not that good as I feel it is too serious for children who are still so young. However, I understand that a lot of parents like the school because the syllabus is very hard but personally, I would prefer my bb to have fun at the age of 2. Sorry for complaining so much.....

I am also angry to learn your experience :evil: !!  My baby is 1 year now and I will not apply for 樂基(駿景園) nursery class      

I think it is a general mistake for most people in HK to push their kids to learn too early.  I think the most important thing for 2 or 3 years kids is that they feel happy and have positive experience about learning but not really learning the knowledge.  I think to cultivate their learning interest is far far more important than what they have learned.

ahgooma: I am glad to hear that you agree with me about encouraging our bbs to cultivate their learning interest when they are still so young. Being an adult is hard enough without our bbs having the chance to have a happy childhood. I am not saying that children at Pre-School do not have a happy time but the teacher who interviewed my bb gave me a really bad impression. She did not mention anything about making sure that my bb would have a fun and interesting time  at nursery - her main concern was to ensure that by September, my bb could go to the toilet herself, was ready to learn ABC and would not cry!

The teacher's conern is ridiculous, she does not understand kids at all.  I think you should reconsider whether you want your baby to be taught by this kind of teacher!!

我都想幫個囝轉amK1.....我亦已經寫信申請....但打電話問職員....話到六, 七月才CONFIRM.....想請問現在讀nursery小朋友唔再讀k1, 是否已經通知學校?

應該還未通知學校,校長話~3,4月會發通告問讀緊學前班的學生會否繼績升上K1, so far還未收到通告!
