Did you consider how many students sit for IBDP and HKDSE? 4-5000 vs 70,000.
More than half of IBDP graduates go for overseas. You can check the admission data of LPCUWC, very small percentage go for medicine, as same scores, you can go for Ivy League and Oxbridge with some scholarships, why bother HKU medicine.

Yes, I have said that most IBD students target more for overseas universities in my previous messages, so parents choosing IBD or HKDSE depends on their future planning for their kids.
For medicine and law, some IBD students will choose to study in HK if they want to carry on their career in HK in long term as overseas graduates have to go through more exams and/or studies if they come back to HK to work...

Good we are on the same page.

Put my son as example, his target PG aimed for medicine in G10-11. After he achieved a reasonable grade in PG, doors open up, medicine may not be the best choice among more good potential offers. It's pretty aligned with some old boys' comment from LPCUWC.

I cannot agree with you more. You should consider your future plan before you take a particular curriculum IB or HKDSE.

Could you please share why your son changes his plan of studying medicine after obtaining a reasonable PG? If he wants to study medicine, he has to show the admission officer his passion of becoming a doctor which should be supported by his activities, services and commitment.

I just say have a reasonable good results, so many opportunities. He still have time to pick the better choice.
In previous posts, I shared with parents that medicine may not fit his character, law, economics or finance may fit him more. Of course, we allow him to make the final shot.......

His attachments not just medicine, but also in law and finance...... His EE will be related to medicine and macro-economics...

The coming months will be tough for the whole family, make a right choice ........

Two weeks ago, we talked to a University Admission Consultant in HK. After knowing our safety net tactics, he can't help to write a strong Personal Statement for 2 or 3 focus....
