It is better to start around 16-18 months. By this age, baby can walk and follow simple instructions. So, they can enjoy more and really learn from it. You can pick some playgroups with Montessori activities too. That will train baby muscles and concentration too. My son did that and I found it very useful.

My son started joining the playgroup when he was 8 months old.He was very shy, especially didn't like to be touched by others.but aftre joining the playgroup, he likw to play with other BB and adults.May be you try Creativepower playgroup in Sha Tin.The teachers are very nice and profesional.Every playgroup last for 3 months and my son is now joining the 2nd one.If you want ,pls Pm me and I will send you the details.

The teachers in the playgroup suggested that we better let our children to join the playgroup as early as possible, as they have their own thinking when they become older and older, they may won't follow what we want him/her to do.We are not forcing them to do anything, we just try to encourage them to learn for others.

I know one in North Point. They have a website but I don't remember the exact link of it. PM me and I can give you the phone number to check for more info. My cousin joined their playgroup for 6 months and did well in recent kindergarten interview.
