my little one just left the school a month plus ago, I think I have the responsibility to write something here to warn other parents.
I might be right or wrong, I am just stating the facts here.
To start with, the class size is really small, just 5 to 6 kids, sometimes one or two kids are sick, so leaving only a few kids playing “on their own” in the classroom. I always delivered my baby myself and since I was always late (not a good thing), I got the chance to see what really happened in the classroom, almost 9 out of 10 occasions, the teacher was doing her own work (or not work?!) at her desk with her computer, igoring the kids, she simply didn’t spend the time with the kids. Sometimes I was late for 20 mins, sometimes I was late for more than 30 mins, all the same, once or twice, I saw her checking her money inside her wallet, while all other kids are playing toys on the floor with the teaching assistant alone, only playing toys, like what you will see when your helper brings your kid to clubhouse playroom.
There was no interaction between the kids, so they didn’t really talk to each other, my daughter was like putting on a halt somehow, became very quiet and bored. She was an active kids back in nursery school, what a change towards the worst!
My daughter went to the school for 2 months plus, she still doesn’t know the teacher’s name, (while I later switched her to a new school, she can tell me at least 2-3 teachers names after 2 days!)
My daughter learned no English in AIS as the teacher didn’t really spend time doing her work at all, with a class size of only 5 to 6 kids, I am very surprised my daughter has learned nothing at all from this reception class. I have to teach her English myself and I don’t have the best method to do it, but it seems they are far more worst than me…
The new principle for the elementary school is a wonderful lady, she really did listen and she tried to find ways to make it work too, she is a kind person. But I later realized there wasn’t much she would do about it…
As a teacher, u need to have certain level of commitment and passion, if one doesn’t have any, I wonder what other management people would do about it?
There is a little window in the classroom door which you can look inside the classroom and see what is going on inside, I can tell you they are very sensitive if someone is checking on them, the teacher always check on the door little window, I tried to check out on them while I delivered my daughter most of the time, she always would know, I wonder why.
During Sept, only a new beginning of the year, I remembered the teacher and her teaching assistant were absent for a few days already, I think there were 2 days or so, they had a secondary student as the replacement teacher or teaching assistant, I saw her sitting there with her school uniform and naive smile, I really didn’t know what to say.
