My preference would be CKY rather than SIS.

Actually both schools are good at academics with good IGCSE results for the first cohort of students last year.

Personally I prefer traditional Chinese to simplified Chinese. And singlish could be a problem. That's why I like CKY more than SIS.

我都明,其實真係唔知點先最幫到佢,就係唔可以避,
但又唔可以太進取去幫佢令佢有任何壓迫感,真係要向有關機構點幫仔仔,
另外,都要上該方面課程...

hey, do you think simplified Chinese is the trend ? especially when reach our kids ' s generation ? I just thinking..... we live in hk, traditional Chinese everywhere, should that be a problem to understand it ? simplified Chinese is ending used all over the world; but traditional Chinese only used in hk, Taiwan and Macau. Is it logical ? pls comment all mamas...

問題係我識太多身邊既小朋友一學咗簡體就真係覺得繁體好煩。好難返轉頭囉, 相反, 你要一個由難去易既, 相信好多識繁體字既睇返簡體字都估到一半或以上。

再者, 我記得早前睇報紙講過點解有簡體字呢, 係因為以前有好多中國人無錢讀書咁就簡化啲字嚟比佢哋學。(如果有錯請更正 ^.^  thanks.) 咁如果我哋有機會, 係咪應該比佢哋去學咗繁體先呢 ? 佢住既地方都係四周圍都繁體喎。

wow... what a nice discussion here. I make myself as an example... I born and live in Hk, I can read & write 繁體 very well just like everyone here ( just that I cannot type chinese ,mthat why I write in english now). I tried to learn 簡體 when I have chance in daily life, at the end  I think I can read it 60%. For those 簡體even I can read, but I cannot write indepently too. Are this applied to you guys  ? I am thinking  may this senerio applied to " 簡體 -->  繁體 " ?.........

任何事都係由 ''難去易'' 會比較易的啦。正如 ''繁去簡'' 一樣。我都係學繁體大, 而家睇簡體都睇到 80% 啦, 至於寫就記得一個得一個 (我多數請 google translate 幫手, 哈)

但如果小朋友係一張白紙, 我一定會比佢學繁體。因為身邊有小朋友學開繁體但見佢哋睇內地版的喜羊羊都無問題呀。

我選CKY

原因﹕ 經濟因素﹐CKY 的學費要便宜過SIS。
           CKY是半傳統半國際的學校。認識一些人讀某些國際學校﹐他們上課太過自由﹐老師並不太理會。。(當然﹐我不是指SIS﹐我並不了解這間學校)
         中英平衡。CKY的中文相當不錯。認識某些國際學校小朋友﹐不會說廣東話﹐卻是地道的香港人。英文成為母語。CKY 的小朋友﹐很多在家都是講廣東話﹐但英文也很棒﹗
我相信SIS是一間相當不錯的學校﹐但我不了解該校﹐所以不能評論。

我的小朋友會於今年九月由國際學校轉到 CKY , 正正係因為 CKY 可以提供到英普的平衡。(上次CKY的演奏會, 我眼見到好多準小一生和家長間的交談都是英文, 我想今年入得的小朋友的英文亦不會太差)。
不過, SIS 我不太清楚, 因為我小朋友唔係讀呢間。希望幫到你啦~

I happened to come across this old post and find this chat interesting.  I am a Singaporean who was born and grew up in Singapore.  I learnt Simplified Chinese since young.  Honestly I cannot write all Traditional Chinese characters but is able read without difficulties.  Traditional Chinese characters are more meaningful and thus easier to remember and understand.  I have to point out that in Singapore education, English is our first language, and we only learnt Chinese in the one Chinese lesson daily, so maybe it is not on a fair basis to compare the Chinese standard of a Singaporean and a HK citizen of the same generation.  It might be a different story if the same question is popped to someone from Mainland China.
