I don't know why it is necessary to mention 誠實選科 as it is irrelevant here given that, a
s far as I know, the language policy mentioned is not mandatory (re:
not publicised in the public domain for parents and students)
but only serves as guidance for school administration and teachers. The policy works well for Chinese students in China and English students in England who'll take Chinese A and English A respectively as their language choices. In Hong Kong, students' Chinese language ability is inferior to their counterparts in China and Taiwan while English is not their native first language even though it is used as the language for all other IB subjects. As such, there is a dilemma in choosing their language choices for IB DP. Yes, choosing Chinese B for a local Chinese student in Hong Kong may be 走精面 but it should be borne in mind that s/he is also taking the challenge of English A in competition with other native English students.

我先前的 MESSAGE 可能講得太精簡。
IBO 的 POLICY 很明顯:不能報讀不合自己水平的 LANGUAGE CLASS。
明明中文水平高,就要讀 CHINESE A,不應該讀 CHINESE B。
國際學校學生很多係讀 CHINESE B 係因為佢地一向當 CHINESE 係 SECOND LANGUAGE。ESF 很多學生真係講都未識講,佢地讀得上 CHINESE B,其實算叻。
我想講的,係不可以為了有高 D 分,而唔讀 CHINESE A ,改讀 CHINESE B。
我只係唔想有人誤會,以為可以將自己中文水平降落去 CHINESE B,可以有高 D 分。
一個負責任的 IB 老師 ,一定唔會批准學生咁做。
我知有國際學校曾經容許一 D 本地學校插班的學生,選 ENGLISH A + CHINESE B,結果成績有個怪現象,就係 ENGLISH A 只有 5 但 CHINESE B 有 7。
其實大學睇總分之餘,亦會睇學生選邊 D 科,比你走精面,讀 CHINESE B 拎多兩分,都唔代表大學會收你。
教仔女誠實選科,都係教育,影響深遠。
