Hihi, do u know how many of them have parents who are HK people? Cos some of the babies' parents are Mainland Chinese, so they may not come to HK to study?
But still , becoming a big b to compete with 2010 Bb almost certainly have higher advantage than be a small b to compete with 2009 Bb , even if there are more Bb born in2010, because one year age difference is still very significant at the age of four to six. And pls don't forget some 2008 small Bb will choose to become big b as well. So it's very hard to compete.
Really depends on the child's own pace of development.
I personally would not repeat K1. I would wait till end of K2 and see if my child could cope with the work. If yes, I would let him move on and submit applications for P1. If not, I would let him repeat K3.
In my case, I let my son be a "small B" in P1. With support at home, he is now doing fine in P1 (top 30% in class) although he does have some weaknesses such as poor handwriting, carelessness and not so 定 and mature as "big B".
So, ask yourself if your child can cope with his existing work. You should be the one who understand him best.
