Sometimes, the children's abilities on reading and writing or learning may not necessarily relate to kindergarten's curriculum, there are lots of factors affecting children's learning in primary school. I see a lots of children from 課程真係好淺's kinder adjust really well to famous "deep" primary schools, and some children from very "deep" kinder, still have issues or adjustment to 課程真係好淺's primary school.
I would turn to the following thinking or perspective: 1) Look into the realities of your children, and tune to basics of learning (e,g, learning basic concepts, love reading, have good homework habits etc); 2) If not up to primary school standard, need to look into details on what's happening, not necessarily relate to the child, may be the mismatch between children and school, may be inhuman curriculum or fantasies/over-expectations of parents...
Primary school should go to the basics - concepts get it right, if ok, go further for gifted one, if not ok, go back to the concepts again...; love readings, enjoy social development with peers and adults; not fear of authorities (especially teachers); habit of asking questions..sense of curiosity!! |
