Whoa.... You sure this is the right decision??

Only talking about student performance or academic level between these 2 schools, St Paul is already better.... Unless you have confident you can get a better school than SPC in central allotment, otherwise, it's very risky to drop SPC for something unknown...

Taking bus route 970 from 太子站 to back door of SPC at Pokfulam Rd needs 30 mins.

九龍華仁: 油尖旺 Band 1 中
聖保羅男校: 中西區 Band 1 尾

用 Khmama 的分析作個基準，我都同意九龍華仁在成續上和名氣上比聖保羅男校高一線，但放棄了聖保羅男校呢個學位去搏一搏，都有一定風險。換了是我的話，我會 register 左聖保羅男校當買個保險，然後六月再往九龍華仁叩門，咁樣 play safe 一些。

We are in Yau Tsim Mong school net and I think the secondary school banding is so far so good. We had WYK interview this morning and my son saw many classmates, WYK arranged 7 boys of same school in a group interview.

We will go the central allocation and aim for band 1A to 1B schools in the net. In case of worst scenario, my boy will go band 1C in Y-T-M net.

Our strategy is waiting for the central allocation in July. If no WYK or equivalent banding is given to us, we will knock SPC door.  This method will ensure a chance of 1A or 1B school for my boy.  In fact, friends in education field advise that SPC already accepted us and it will be a high probability to accept my boy in August if vacancy is available.

SPC 是一間傳統學校，今年是創校160周年紀念，其教學模式亦是採用傳統教學為主。雖然是直資學校，但在三年前，學校仍有参加中央派位，故此，成績卓越而又参與大抽獎遊戲的學生多不會以SPC為首選，相反，成績稍遜而家庭經濟能力又許可的話，以SPC為首選的話，入讀機會便大大增加，所以成績大不如前也不是太意外的事，但在两年前，學校不再参加中央派位，自行收生，相對收生門檻亦提高不少，加上師資不錯，因此日後公開試成績理應上調。
加上校頗方注重學生的言行舉止，故此校風頗純樸，這是值得一讚的。

But SPC will really let you knock the door in August if you turn down their offer now?   There must be a lot of students knocking door at that moment.  Why a school will give offer to a "叛將" but not some other loyal fans?

You have made your points, every decision is risky and trade-off.  Someone sees loyalty but some count competence.

I kind of sharing your point of view. Making decision is the most difficult part, able to take risk and understand your own competence, as well as knowing your kid, is reflecting your competence as a parent.

My friend also gave up the offer from SPC and wait for the lucky draw.  And she's prepared to knock SPC's door if she couldn't get an ideal school in the lucky draw.  Wonder the school will still give places to those applicants.

BTW, the school net of YTM district is not as good as before.  Apart from WYK, St. Francis and QES, it seems that parents won't have many other choices.

You may always go back to SPC to knock door.

My understanding is that Wah Yan Kowloon will only consider knock-on-the-door applications only for those candidates who have attended interviews for the 30% discretionary placement.

How about St. Francis Xaiver & Ming Kei?  Do they only accept those have applied before?  Thanks!

I don't know the criteria of St. Francis Xaiver or Ming Kei.  I beleive the admission offices of the schools should be able to answer this question.
