有無人9月仔做超大仔? 可以分享經驗嗎?

My son is 0909, studying PN and I m applying K1 for him. I like LH and TT but both failed to get offer. LH's PN 2012/13 accept kids fr 1sep2009 but I really think he is too big in a PN class next year esp. he is mature and knows a lot already...

Same case here, my daughter is 0909B. She also failed to get an offer from LH, TT, SC. I will try to apply LH and SC PN. I am waiting for the result from KM. If we can get an offer from KM, my gal no need to repeat PN.

我大囡都係9月出世, 係班裡面係偏細, 但又細唔哂, 我都AGREE WITH其他MAMMY講, 你CHECK清楚小一D學校收唔收讀遲一年的9月B先好做LEE個決定, 我真係未聽過9月出世小朋友讀遲一年.

my son is 0910 bb. Now he only speak single few words. i also think to let him to be big boy.. do you think OK????

Personally, I don't agree the big boy/girl concept, my girl is 0909, she is super shy and didn't response for any interviews (except the 1st two got accepted -> York and SJC) however, both are not my target schools, I still want her to continue her normal education year with all 2009 babies, either staying in her nursery school or add oil for future interviews. Because when I observe my ex-classmates (20+ years ago school age), we have top students borned between Oct to Dec in Primary studies, Secondary and University, and of course, there are 100x reasons behind that I am not interested to find out. What I want to point out is, there is no meaning to compete in the very beginning in kinder, but I will perfer to step backward to look the results for the whole education journey. (1 year can finish a master degree, why as a mother, I will waster my kid's 1 year time.)

我覺得你唔應該甘讀....  除非你間PN有K1接住上而系一定會比位你繼續讀。如果唔系你個超大B讀完PN﹐下年D K1個個都唔會收0909 B﹐你幫唔到拒報學校窩。連收超大B的PC下年都會cut到0911﹐無學校收你張form啵~~ 你應該報K1﹐讀到下學期真係覺得BB追唔上﹐先同元校講想重讀﹐大部份有需要學校都會比拒重讀。
我自己個系0809B﹐今年仲有得報PC做超大B﹐不過PC收唔收我都可能會比拒重讀K1﹐都有同老師傾過下學期會決定。

點解會有小一學校唔收之前一年的9月b? 我知大抽獎都係小一開學之前未滿七歲就可以參加. 咁之前一年的9月尾出世又真係未滿七歲 (六歲十一個月). 所以我以為無問題咋.  等我再問清楚先. 謝謝!

我問過幼稚園校長, 佢話所有小學老師都係鐘意大仔, 係容易教好多.

Girls are more mature and develop faster than boys for 1 to 1.5 years.  So 0909 born girl is not really a problem to admit to K1 next year.  Hope you can get KM offer for your gal!  Add Oil!

I have quite a few friends around me also have small boys like 0810, and they also decided to repeat K1 in 2012/2013.  I think this is getting more common now.

我想讀的PN是可以真升原校K1的. 所以我先會有呢個想法. 如果唔係我都唔會考慮. 會比佢先讀有OFFER的K1, 下年再REPEAT.

想問你是什麼原因要為你0809的仔仔REPEAT K1 呢? 你有打算讀什麼類型小學呢?

My girls can speak full sentence and follow your instruction. But she is very shy, so she didn't have good performance during the interview. We got an offer from Our Lady and SN only which are not our targets. Luckily, she have outstanding performance during KM interview (I never see my shy daughter can answer all questions to the stranger).

I checked SC, KM and LH also accept 0909BB to apply PN this year. So far I know KM and LN are 100% promoted to K1.

要repeat做大仔唔一定如想像中容易, 最好還是先讀K1, 到出年再睇下有無好啲幼稚園收.

宜家好多人做大仔, 幼稚園interview時對大仔要求會高啲, 而且小朋友三歲再int K1已經開始有自己主見, interview時失準機會都唔細, 所以要三思呀.

Don't take me wrong.  I don't mean to let my son being big kid because I want him to compete better in kinder stage.  Instead, I do this is just because I really view the whole 20+ years of study as a whole education journey.  That's why I don't think deferring 1 year is a waste of his time.  It's rather to let him build a better foundation for his basic development in early years before feeding him the over his standard academic learnings.  HK has a very strange education environment.  All schools and kids are learning things at least 1 year higher than their age/level.  
Like what I discussed with Wishwong in earlier posts, she also pointed out that overseas education even send kids to kg until 4/5 years old.  There are even some schools overseas arrange boys to start school a year later.

It's right that if you look back to your ex classmates there are cases with outstanding students born in Oct-Dec.  it's because the development of boys will catch up with girls until teenages(late primary or secondary school).  and by secondary school, the development discrepancy between boys/girls or Jan born with Dec born will be diminished or even not exist.
