Re: 中西區選校: 俾D意見啦
Dear Everyone
sorry haven't been up here for a long while coz i had my study homework to do first....
Baby Yui Yui
I am not sure if my opinion worth anything, if you are 100% you are going to send Travis to SKH next year for k1, it is a chinese language dominant environment, I think it is not necessary to send him to any expensive pre-school. Language is something you have to use and speak all the time in order to make good use of it. Between now and SKH, I would suggest if you choose a nice relax one for him and take extra course in PM session for English playgroup or something, Letterland in Causeway Bay is a nice one, if you are so concern about his english standard.
I myself came back from England as I have been there most of my life. I am not too keen on forcing my child to be in eng environment, in fact, he doesn't speak much of eng yet, not even a-z, but i want him to pick up well in him mothermogue Cantonese first, when he is felling comfortable in conversing using cantonese(he is 2.5 yr old), then I will start talking the UK English to him, he does understand when I talk to the helper most of the time. But in school, he is always speaking and learning everything in Chinese. So, this is my own little view. But, then again, if you are willing to invest on him, start when he is in K1, SKH and extra eng/phonic to do or something..
One thing is funny, I saw quite a lot 2 year olds being forced to be in eng environment, then go to a chinese pre-nursery and they end up being very quite for a long time, coz they have to work out the transition from eng to cantonese and it would prohibit them to speak freely on either language. I like my son to son, in anything, this is the confidence build up period and I don;t want to stop this even when he is saying anyhting not making sense at all...
hope this help to your Travis...
cheers
