Anyways, I found some information from the web regarding the 2 schools....  

(1) Marymount

Marymount is a Catholic school and founded by Maryknoll Sisters in 1927.  In 1978-1979, the Maryknoll Sisters handed over the sponsorship of the school to the Columban Sisters.  In 1996-1997, the Columban Sisters transfered the sponsorship of the school to the Christian Life Community (CLC).

The CLC is an international Catholic lay community with a keen interest in education and commitment to the service of youth, and which receives spiritual guidance from the Jesuits of Wah Yan College HK.  The CLC has pledged to preserve the same school spirit, foster the traditions and continue to provide quality education at Marymount.  

English is the medium of instruction for all subjects except Chinese and Putonghua.  Marymount Secondary School is the "Feeder Secondary School" to MPS (Not a "through-train secondary school")


(2) DGJS

DGJS is the primary arm of DGS.  DGS is a Christian school founded in 1860 and no doubt, the best girl's school in Hong Kong, with students known to be high achievers in academics, music and sports.  DGS counts a total of 37 winners of the Hong Kong Outstanding Students Awards, ranking 1st among all secondary schools in Hong Kong. DGS is also a member of the global G20 Schools Group.

DGS is a school whose medium of instruction is English and is recognised for its high standard of English. It emphasises the development of bilingual and triliterate abilities, and provides the girls with education in oral and written English and written Chinese.

Hands up definitely for DGJS in terms of academics.  Marymount is in no way compared to DG esp. its secondary school.  Neverthless MPS is a competitive school but a happy one without such pressure as in DGJS.
In case your girl couldn't live up in DGJS, changing to another primary school is always an option available to you. Even MPS used to have a few places available in each level for application.
My opinion doesn't concern about the financial issue.  If this is really what you're concerned about, MPS should be a rather moderate, safe and rewarding choice.
Anyway, you should release the space as soon as you have made up your mind so to allow other families to have opporunities to join either school.

請不要因別人花上數萬元在女兒的課外活動上，而放棄讓女兒入讀一所好學校的機會．我跟妳一樣是中產打工仔，從不捨得花HK$500/小時讓女兒補習．那麼，每月花上HK$10,000（學費＋車費＋課外活動）應當足夠吧！

然而，小女跟她的同學朋友一樣，都很喜歡閱讀，成績多年來都能保持．不要以為學校成績好與否，跟所花金錢成正比．學校有不少例子，很多中產學生的成績，比富有的那班還要好．
　
想提醒妳，DGJS上學期在12月頭考試，考完試後便一直輕鬆至農曆年，所以學生在聖誕和農曆年，都真的可以放放假．有否眼前一亮？至於測驗考試壓力，我倒認為官津學校比DGJS還要大呢！

For me, SPCC fee + school bus+ violin lessons will be more or less $10 000 already....
Anyway, I bought a flat on hk island to minimize traveling to school !

嘩！用HK$2000幾學violin，都唔平喎，妳小朋友一定很有天份．在SPCCPS讀書，無乜可能唔過萬嘞，學費＋車費都$8000啦！

請問妳搬到哪區？海怡？天后？我正考慮搬屋．由SPCCPS返天后很快，3:25PM到，聽說返海怡都差不多．

雖然DGJS裏有很多家長花一兩萬元每月栽培囡兒，但也有只參加學校課外活動的，上公文學林等較經濟的課程。

放棄容易考入難！

不過提醒你一點，DGJS的課程我覺得與其它學校有點不同，快慢也不一，由DGJS轉回傳統官津小，未必適應，大多數自己轉校的學生會到國際學校讀書。
