The above link related to UCAS recognition, if you only take Core module, your Maths score only half the total score. the implication is some university programs need better Maths standard, without M1 or M2, you can't take those subjects, not just HK and also overseas universities.
2. In NSS, students have more flexibility in choosing subjects, not just purely Arts, Business or Science streams, you can mix and match to have the best subjects to fit our kids interests, strengths and exposures etc. Pls take advantage on this flexibility to pick the right subjects.
3. My son has some programs in mind and his choice mainly focus on those programs and he is also good at those subjects.
Example:
Quantitative Finance - Maths with either M1 and M2;
Medicine - Chemistry compulsory (Not Biology)
His initial choices
Chinese, English, Liberal Study, Maths (M2), Chemistry, Physics and Economics.
Finally, he opted for IB, but the electives still the same
Chinese, English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Economics.
