整數四則運算屬於「明天會更好」的項目,小三不熟練,小四自然熟練;小四不熟練的,小五自然熟練。犯不著操練那麼多。
Rationally yes. But the self confidence of some bright students would have been already destroyed by the time they got into secondary school if they had done badly at 四則運算 although they know in principle how to do a problem. Contrary to your belief, I have no objection to primary students drilling a little for proficiency in 四則運算. This is something that if you are willing to practice consistenly every day, you can do well no matter you are clever or not. I have seen many bright kids falling behind in maths exactly becuase they were clever. Up to P5, the calculation is relative simple before fractions, they can count on 數手指 instead of memorising 九因歌. Here come 異分母加減 and 小數乘除. As they still have problems with their 九因歌, the maths sky is falling on them and they never stand up again. Like the case of your daughter, if you had not taken the corrective actions in F2, imagine what would have happened. That is why I suggested you become more conservative in this area. Unlike other subjects like history or biology, for which a bright child can still cram everything in a couple of weeks before exams. You cannot do this with Maths.
