Re: Causeway Ling Liang Tong Interview

chuchumui,

Thanks for remind me that my comments may give hard feelings to some readers.  I just intend to give my personal views.  Anyway perhaps in future I shall only PM my views to other parents.        :

When my good friend told me her daughter's experience at (4), I was also quite surprised.  Before that, I thought it was a good school and we also applied to it.  I also visited the school and the environment was very nice, though the location is a bit inconvenient.

Re: Causeway Ling Liang Tong Interview

Dear youngyoungmama and chuchumui:
Thanks again for sharing your opionions.  Your input helps a lot.  Actually, LLC has been our first choice since last year.  But we heard from parents that LLC students may have difficulties when they enter primary schools, mainly because of their English level and their tendency to touch things and wander around in the classrooms.  Plus the fact that my husband feels that LLC is getting similar to Victoria after its renovation.  So we wonder whether we should choose something modest (like SKH) for our child.
Dear Almond:
The 2nd part of the interview was to see the headmistress.  For us, the 1st part of the interview (with the teacher) ended quickly.  We (including other parents and children) were asked to line up and wait for about 10 minutes to enter a classroom.  After we were allowed into a classroom, the teachers talked to the babies and taught them how to sing (The parents were sitting behind the babies).  In about ten mintues, the headmistress came in.  She talked to the babies and sang a few songs.  People said for this part, the babies should not leave their seats.  It would be great if the babies could act/ move their hands according to the songs.  Then the headmistress would ask the babies to come out one by one with their parents to say goodbye.  When my baby said goodbye, she asked my baby a few questions (those common interview questions).

Re: Causeway Ling Liang Tong Interview

What described by PaulineVin is exactly the same process we had gone through.  I felt nothing unusual about the headmistress sing a song process.

In fact, it was after this section that I had more confidence in this school because I could feel that the headmistress has real love for the kids.

And I feel the process very natural - just similar to a normal playgroup.   May be my girl had been attending playgroups all along and that why I did not have any hard feeling with this process at all.
It is so funny that the same thing would mean so different to different persons.

Dear PaulineVin, I am happy to know that you know what you are looking for.  Good Luck!!!

Paulinevin,

Everybody has their own criterias for assessing kinders, based on their different needs.  Here're mine -
- environment
- facilities (to me, outdoor playground is a must)
- teaching staff
- resources (eg. on-line resources, etc.)
- location
- tuition fee (some are unreasonably high)
- feedbacks from other people
- which primary schools most graduates go

ummmmmm... here're my comments on your listed kinders:-

(1) Know some kids studying here.  They are all happy and cheerful kids. But location may not be quite convenient for those who do not live nearby;

(2) Hearsay it's good too.  Any outdoor facilities?  It's far from my living place so did not visit it before;

(3) See below;

(4) A good friend's daughter studying here and her comments are all quite negative (eg. no on-line facility, no 觀課 arrangement, etc.) and then the little girl doesn't want to go to school everyday;

(5) You want you kid to learn Putonghua at school as 1st language?  If this is your purpose, then of course this is the only choice.  Personally I don't like environment of this branch, quite old.  And tuition fee, you know.  I have 1 year personal experience with Victoria (nursery).  Then you see we changed school

(6) Int'l branch?  If yes, same comments as on (5).  I don't know whether it is a one dragon tail school.  Even yes I believe this would not be an advantage because its secondary is not ok at all.

Hope you can make the best choice for your kid !!
